The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho, received on Tuesday (18), the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, and requested the release of new Pará-based meat industry companies to operate in the international market. The governor justifies environmental and productive advances to ensure the release. The state has 26 million cattle.

The meeting was held at the Palácio dos Despachos, the headquarters of the Pará State Executive Power, in Belém. Helder Barbalho argued that Pará is advancing in individual cattle traceability, including the State Government subsidizing the individual identification chip for producers raising up to 100 cattle, which corresponds to 67% of the category in the State.

“An important opportunity to demonstrate that those who practice good practices are valued. It is important to recognize those who do it well. Our strategy in Pará is the maturation of the excellence process, combined with environmental efforts to reduce pressure on the forest. The traceability process for Pará is the most important tool to reduce environmental illegality,” Barbalho pondered.

On this occasion, the minister highlighted that the request from the Pará governor is valid and that the traceability process initiated in Pará serves as a case for the Federal Government to expand the tool as a public policy for the entire country.

“Our visit here is to recognize that Pará is the synthesis of this new moment in Brazilian agriculture. Among the 27 States, I have no doubt that due to its management of facing challenges and showing Pará producers that it is possible to reverse this game of criticism and demands and transform the scenario into opportunities.”

“And COP will be this success because there would be no better place in the world to demonstrate that it is possible to produce a lot, with safety, health, security, traceability, and good environmental practices,” added Carlos Fávaro.
