On this Thursday (24), agents from the River Group (GFLu), linked to the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), together with Military and Civil Police working at the Candiru River Base, arrested a man in the act and seized approximately 10.7 kg of skunk-type drugs.

The seizure, which had the help of the dog Isis, occurred during an inspection of the vessel L/M Aliança com Deus, which was sailing on the Amazon River, traveling from Manaus to Santarém.

“Drug seizures along the Amazon River route do not cease. We continue with integrated actions through the Candiru Base, dismantling organized crime and removing from circulation the drugs transported on vessels, mostly coming from Amazonas destined for municipalities in Baixo Amazonas or even the capital of Pará. We are investigating and conducting patrols to identify and seize, more and more, the illicit substances that harm our population,” said Ualame Machado, Secretary of Public Security of Pará.

During a routine inspection of the vessel, the sniffer dog Isis, from the Santarém Military Police kennel, indicated the presence of drugs in a backpack belonging to one of the passengers, where two blocks of skunk-type marijuana were found. Subsequently, upon checking the rest of the suspect's luggage, already in the hold of the vessel, six more blocks of the same substance were located, totaling approximately 10.7 kg of skunk-type drugs.

The 38-year-old man, responsible for the luggage, was arrested in the act for drug trafficking and taken along with the material for procedures with the Civil Police team working at the Integrated Base.

Drug seizures

From April 1st until tonight (24), nine actions have already been recorded that resulted in direct seizures at the Candiru Base, with more than 350 kg of drugs seized during inspections of vessels that travel the Amazon River route in front of the municipality of Óbidos.
