This year, the local office of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of Pará (Emater) in Irituia, on the Capim River, has intensified support for quilombolas from Santa Maria do Curuçá, a territory of over 300 hectares located in the Galiléia region.

The direct attention to 35 families includes the perspective of land regularization in support of the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra); documentation for access to public policies and technological dissemination in the productive chains of açaí and cassava.

According to the head of the local Emater office in Irituia, educator Wagma Monteiro, a specialist in School Management and in Portuguese Language and Literary Analysis, Emater has also been contributing with the georeferencing necessary for the rural environmental registration (car).

It is a set of actions: car, cafs [national registrations of family farming] individual and legal, of the Association [Association of Quilombolas of Santa Maria do Curuçá], survey of activities and traditions, mainly açaí from igapó, planting and processing of cassava,” enumerates the head of the office, Wagma Monteiro.

Since March and in this month of April, the issuance of cafs, for example, has been directed towards participation in the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), of the National Supply Company (Conab), aiming at the supply of products such as water flour.

“Emater is a 10: it meets all our demands. We are well integrated and really our work is of collective results,” points out the president of AQCMS, Maria José Lopes, 40 years old.
