A new study by Embratur on trends and opportunities for international tourism to Brazil revealed that Belém is among the destinations with the greatest growth potential among foreign audiences. The survey analyzed the behavior of travelers from 17 strategic markets, highlighting the growing interest of Americans in the Amazon region. In this scenario, Belém consolidates itself as an opportunity destination, with unique attributes that combine nature, culture, and gastronomy.

Traditionally, destinations like Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and Foz do Iguaçu lead the ranking of the most visited cities by international tourists. However, the new profile of the global traveler, increasingly interested in authentic experiences, nature tourism, and connection with local cultures, has driven the repositioning of cities like Belém. The capital of Pará offers a unique combination: direct access to the Amazon rainforest, cultural manifestations with strong identity, and one of the most awarded cuisines in the country.

The increasing international visibility of Belém is a direct result of the strategic actions of the State Secretariat of Tourism of Pará. Setur has intensified promotional actions for the destination at international fairs, business rounds, and marketing campaigns aimed at foreign audiences.

The state secretariat has participated in recent years in events such as ITB Berlin, National Tourism Fair, WTM Latin America, ABAV Expo, Festuris, and Expo Turismo Paraná, which contributes to placing Pará on the radar of international operators and influences the decisions of travelers seeking new routes in Brazil.

“Belém is the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon and brings together everything the modern tourist desires: lush nature, vibrant culture, and a welcoming people. The Embratur study reinforces what we have already perceived at major international events: the world is turning its eyes to the Amazon, and Pará has all the conditions to be a protagonist in this process. We are working in an integrated manner with the tourism trade to structure and promote our destinations with quality and responsibility,” said the Secretary of Tourism of the State of Pará, Eduardo Costa.

The identification of Belém as an opportunity destination for the North American market highlights the alignment of the state government's tourism policy with global trends. According to Embratur, international tourists value experiences related to sustainability, community-based tourism, and environmental preservation — areas where Pará has a natural vocation and ongoing projects that reinforce this image.

“The Embratur study is an important indicator of how Brazil can diversify its international tourism offering. And Belém, with its natural, historical, and cultural wealth, has everything to occupy a prominent place in this new map of global tourism,” concludes Eduardo Costa.
