Inclusion Center concludes Autism Month with inclusive musical afternoon
Activity brought together users, families, and professionals in a moment of artistic expression and integration
The Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) concluded the programming of Blue April, the month of awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with a musical afternoon that gathered users, families, and collaborators from CIIR.
The initiative, promoted by the Humanized Working Group (GTH) and the Arts and Culture sector, reinforced the collective commitment to humanized care and the appreciation of diversity. The presentation was led by music teacher Messias França, with participation from recreationist Nathalia Nancy, teacher Marcos Mendonça, and nine users assisted by the center. The repertoire included popular national songs and music from the local culture.
"We prepared everything with our students from the artistic workshop. It was an eclectic presentation, designed to value both the musical tastes of the participants and the culture of our region," explained Messias França.
During the month of April, the Blue April programming at CIIR included workshops, discussion circles, walks, exhibitions, and sensory experiences, promoting dialogue about autism and encouraging the creation of more welcoming and inclusive environments. On the last day, April 23, the musical presentation was held for users, families, and professionals from the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea), a unit managed by CIIR, also located in Belém.
For CIIR's assistant director, Maria do Carmo Freitas, the impact of the actions reaffirms the role of art as a tool for promoting health, inclusion, and citizenship. "Our goal is always to raise awareness about ASD and value the potential of each individual served," she emphasized.
Impact – Among the participants of the musical presentation was Willian Lima, 10 years old, a service user and student of the Music Workshop at CIIR. A resident of Benevides, he participated alongside his mother, the self-employed Nilvia Oliveira, 40 years old, who celebrated her son's progress in social interaction. "He is very happy, and I am too. Music helps a lot. Seeing him participating like this, interacting, makes me emotional. CIIR deserves congratulations for the initiative. I am very grateful," she stated.
The musical afternoon marked the conclusion of a month focused on listening, welcoming, and visibility for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), promoting respectful coexistence and the appreciation of differences.
Integrated actions – Throughout the month of April, CIIR and Cetea promoted various actions aimed at raising awareness about autism, reaffirming the commitment to inclusion, the guarantee of rights, citizenship, and the well-being of people with ASD. Among the initiatives, highlights include training for professionals from the Regional Electoral Court of Pará (TRE-PA) and the Bank of the State of Pará (Banpará) for proper service to people with ASD, as well as guidance on the rights of employees who have family members with the disorder. Actions were also carried out to facilitate access to electoral services, in addition to participation in walks and artistic interventions related to World Autism Awareness Day, celebrated on April 2. The activities were part of the national Blue April campaign, with actions promoted both at CIIR and Cetea.
Structure – The Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation is a reference in Pará for medium and high complexity assistance to People with Disabilities (PwDs) visual, physical, auditory, and intellectual. Users can access the services of CIIR and Cetea through referrals from health units, welcomed by the Regulation Center of each municipality, which in turn refers to State Regulation. The request will be analyzed according to the user's profile by the State Regulation System (SER).
