An urbanized landscape with safe mobility emerges with the progress of the works

In Belém, those who travel through the Padre Eutíquio and São Pedro alleys can now closely follow the progress of the New Tamandaré work, one of the structural interventions of COP 30 (World Conference on Climate Change), for which the capital of Pará is preparing to be the great host in November 2025. With 72% of the services completed, Block I of the New Tamandaré Linear Park is without the dividers (fences) and can now be appreciated, as the section also receives new asphalt paving.

"The State continues to advance with the schedules of the works that are part of the investments for COP 30, and the moment has come for the residents of Belém to follow the progress of the New Tamandaré services, which is generating almost 420 jobs. This important and historic road in Belém is being transformed with sanitation, urbanization, landscaping, and canal recovery services. It is another investment in quality of life, improvement of urban mobility, and leisure that will last beyond COP 30," highlighted the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

Block I of the New Tamandaré is 137 meters long and features three contemplation areas, tables with board games with wooden benches, trash cans, bike racks, bike lanes, and accessible sidewalks.

Resident of Avenida Tamandaré, housewife Maria Lobato liked what she saw. "This area was just a canal, without any benefit for the people. I pass by here every day to shop and I will wait for it to open so I can come spend the late afternoon with my grandchildren. It's approved!" she commented.

Sustainability
New trees are already being planted in Block I of the New Tamandaré, which will also feature green spaces that act as sponges, absorbing part of the rainwater before it drains into the drainage system, reducing the risk of flooding. Along the nine blocks, the Linear Park will gain 78 new trees.

In addition to the linear park services, the New Tamandaré is receiving sanitation works to ensure the proper collection of sanitary sewage from the properties located around the canal in the Campina neighborhood.

The sanitation of the Tamandaré Basin is carried out by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Public Works (Seop). The work includes a sewage collection network, installation of inspection wells, execution of household branches, demolition and reconstruction of asphalt pavement, as well as the construction of a Sewage Treatment Station, Sewage Pumping Station, and Stormwater Pumping Station.

Linear Park – The New Tamandaré work is about 1.4 kilometers long. In the area, 2.5 kilometers of asphalt paving, canal recovery, drainage, sanitary sewage, landscaping, urbanization, installation of walkways will be executed, and the section received five new gates that control the flow of tides in the area.

The Government of Pará invests to improve mobility, leisure, and urbanization in Belém. The project aims to integrate the canal with the city, reclaiming the importance of Avenida Tamandaré for the population. Living spaces are being built, such as kiosks, contemplative areas and event spaces, bike lanes, playgrounds, pet areas, outdoor gyms, and solar trees. The services include the urbanization of Praça Onze de Junho and the construction of Praça do Terminal, which will integrate with the New Tamandaré Hydroviário Terminal.
