Government of Pará releases the visual of Block 2 of Nova Doca in Belém
State removes the barriers and the second section of the road can already be seen by the population

Those passing through Avenida Visconde de Souza Franco can already better observe the progress of the Nova Doca works. The service is 74% completed, and the Government of Pará has removed the barriers from Block 2 of the Linear Park, which encompasses the stretch between Belém and Municipalidade streets. The area has also received new asphalt.

The project is part of the set of structural works considered a legacy of COP30, the World Climate Conference, which will take place in Belém in November. Now, the nearly 190 meters of Block 2 in Nova Doca will receive finishing works, sustainable landscaping, and the installation of public equipment.

“We have reached another stage that represents the progress of the Nova Doca work within the schedule closely monitored by Governor Helder Barbalho and Vice Governor Hana Ghassan. The asphalt being finalized will ensure the release of traffic in this stretch, facilitating vehicle flow in the area. Additionally, it is another opportunity for the population to visualize what is being done by the nearly 530 workers who are part of this investment for COP30,” highlighted Ruy Cabral, Secretary of Public Works.

The structural works in Belém for COP30, carried out by the Government of Pará, generate five thousand direct jobs. Among the employed workforce is painter Fábio Nunes, recently hired to work on the construction of Nova Doca.
"This is a positive point for me: having a signed work card, ensuring my benefits as a worker, providing for my family. It’s my first time working on a State Government project, and it’s gratifying to contribute to everything evolving as planned,” said painter Fábio Nunes.

Public and leisure equipment
Block 2 of Nova Doca features an elevated walkway that will connect with the lookout and the bleachers of Block 1, whose barriers around it have also been removed. The space will also include a bike path, two contemplation areas, a gym, and a kiosk with a living space. Block 2 has already received the planting of 28 trees that make up the sustainable landscaping of Nova Doca. In total, 180 trees will be planted along the eight blocks of the canal.

As part of the strategy for purifying the canal water, Block 2 will also have a wastewater treatment system through wetlands, the so-called "filter gardens," which use plants that economically and effectively reduce environmental impacts. The roots of plants such as the Amazon Lily and Indian Cane absorb the impurities from the canal and return them in the form of non-polluting oxygen.

Sanitation - The Nova Doca project aims to ensure proper collection and treatment of sewage from properties located around the canal. The sewage system will be connected to the Treatment Station (ETE) of Una, currently under construction on Arthur Bernardes Highway.
According to Seop, the sanitation services will ensure the removal of the volume of sewage that is irregularly discharged into the canal, improving water quality and providing more basic infrastructure for the population.
The first section was released for viewing in March
The Government of Pará removed the barriers at the end of March and completed the asphalt work on Block 1 of Nova Doca – located between Avenida Pedro Álvares Cabral/Rua Belém and Avenida Marechal Hermes – which has had traffic released.
The location features a structure of the walkway with an elevated lookout and bleachers for contemplation, as well as a bike path. The area will also have a water ballet and two interactive fountains next to the events and cultural activities area, where the structure of the image of Our Lady of Nazareth is usually set up during the Círio.
