During an inspection carried out by tax auditors from the State Department of Finance (Sefa), assigned to the Coordination of Goods in Transit of Carajás, 18 tons of cassava flour were seized on May 5th. The cargo, originating from Araripe (CE), was destined for the city of Parauapebas, in southeastern Pará, and was valued at R$ 72,180.00.

The seizure occurred at the tax post of the Tocantins River Bridge, located on the PA-150 highway, in the Morada Nova district of Marabá. According to the coordinator of the tax unit, Cicinato Oliveira, the truck transporting the cargo disobeyed the stop order at the tax post. "The vehicle was pursued and brought back by Sefa vehicles, with the support of the Military Police," he reported.

During the approach, the driver presented an invoice referring to only 360 bags of 5 kg each — totaling only 1,800 kg of the goods, with a declared value of R$ 18 thousand. After weighing and detailed analysis, the auditors found that the truck was actually transporting 18,000 kg of flour. In other words, 16,200 kg were without accompanying tax documentation.

Given the irregularity, a Seizure and Deposit Term (TAD) was drawn up, with tax and fine charges amounting to R$ 15,590.88.
