The Government of Pará is advancing in the services on Avenida Duque de Caxias, in Belém. The investment is part of the set of structural works considered legacies of COP 30, which will take place in November in the capital of Pará. In addition to Duque, hundreds of streets in various neighborhoods of Belém and in the districts of the capital will receive paving and requalification, improving urban mobility and the quality of life of the population.

“Just like the other state works in the context of COP 30, which are intensified and progressing within the schedule, the interventions on Avenida Duque de Caxias are moving towards the final stretch from Rua Antônio Barreto to Travessa Humaitá. These are necessary interventions for the maintenance of the avenue, which is one of the main ones in Belém,” explains the Secretary of State for Public Works, Ruy Cabral.

Asphalt paving has already been completed at critical and worn points of Avenida Duque de Caxias, in addition to signage. The work continues with the adjustment of bike lanes; installation of bus shelters according to accessibility standards, crossing, and comfort; requalification of sidewalks to ensure universal accessibility and re-adjustment of surface drainage.

Urban mobility - With a total length of 2.5 kilometers, including a central median and two lanes, totaling 5,000 meters of roadway, Avenida Duque de Caxias is an arterial road that absorbs a large part of the traffic from the central region of Belém. The road, besides being strategically located near the Hangar - Convention and Exhibition Center of the Amazon and the Parque da Cidade, the main event hubs of COP 30, also serves as a secondary route to Belém International Airport.

The interventions that seek to optimize urban mobility, accessibility, and functionality of the capital of Pará include other roads, such as Avenida Dr. Freitas, Avenida Pedro Álvares Cabral, Rua Belém, Rua Municipalidade, Avenida Senador Lemos, Avenida Visconde de Souza Franco, and Avenida Almirante Tamandaré.

Various neighborhoods of Belém and their districts are included in the set of paving and road requalification works for COP 30. The work results from an agreement between the State Government and the Federal Government, through Itaipu Binacional, with works on hundreds of streets in the capital. The services ensure asphalt paving, earthworks, drainage, sidewalks, curbs, and signage.
