With support from Seel, black belt André Lobato became the champion of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in São Paulo (SP)

Athletes from Pará stood on the highest podium of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in São Paulo, winning five medals: one gold, three silver, and one bronze. They have the decisive support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel).

The competition is considered one of the largest and most relevant on the national calendar for the sport. The tournament brought together more than 8,000 athletes from across the country, representing the youth, adult, and master categories, both male and female. The championship took place from April 26 to May 4 at the José Corrêa Sports Gym in Barueri, organized by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ).

The Seel secretary, Cássio Andrade, emphasized the Government's work, through Seel, in valuing the athletes from Pará. “The Government, through Seel, has been promoting and valuing our athletes, providing full support to represent our State in the main national and international competitions. We are bringing five medals to the capital. This is important and shows that serious and responsible work has significant results,” said the secretary.

The champion athlete of the master 3 heavyweight category, black belt André Lobato, highlighted the importance of the achievement. “This medal means a lot to me because it is a difficult championship; in fact, it is the most difficult Jiu-Jitsu championship, not even the world championship is as tough, but of course, the world championship is the world championship. However, the Brazilian championship had athletes in my category. There were 50 athletes, and it was a tough championship, and this medal represents a lot for our State. In this year of 2025, I am the Brazilian champion of Jiu-Jitsu from CBJJ,” emphasized the athlete.

Black belt André Lobato highlighted Seel's support. “The support from the Sports and Leisure Secretariat and the State Government was fundamental for this achievement. Without this support, I wouldn't have been able to go.”

“I am an athlete who has been fighting for many years; thank God I have several national and international titles. The sport, with the support of Seel, I can only thank Secretary Cássio Andrade, the Sports Secretariat, the entire management, and our governor Helder Barbalho for this support,” he emphasized.

The other medalist was black belt Ronieri da Silva. He won the silver medal in the master 1 middleweight category. “I fought in the middleweight, master 1 category, had six fights, lost in the final, in the sixth fight. Thanks to Seel's support, I was able to bring this medal to the capital; this support from the Government has been helping me in other competitions for some years now,” said the athlete.
