A team of experts from the Forensic Chemistry Laboratory, part of the Coordination of Laboratories (Colab), of the Scientific Police of Pará (PCEPA), in Belém, conducted an examination on the morning of this Thursday, 08, on nearly 500 kilograms of drugs seized during an inspection by agents of the Integrated River Base 'Antônio Lemos' on a trailer being transported by a barge, in the municipality of Breves, in Marajó. The drugs were sent to the State Department for the Prevention and Suppression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc), which opened a police inquiry to investigate the case and requested the forensic examination.

The examination found a total of 498 kilograms of drugs, consisting of 463 kilograms of marijuana, divided into 399 bricks, and 35 kilograms of Oxi, divided into 34 bricks. "The drug was described, weighed, and counter-samples were sent to the forensic laboratory of PCEPA, where they will undergo other confirmatory tests," said PCEPA criminal expert Judysson Brito.

According to the delegate responsible for the case, Lúcio Bezerra, with the help of a sniffer dog, it was possible to identify that there were drugs in the vehicle. "The drugs came from Manaus destined for Belém. The drugs usually come from the 'Brazil-Peru-Colombia' triple border.
The truck driver was caught in flagrant for the crime of drug trafficking,” said the delegate.

The report will support the disposal of all the seized product, which will be taken for incineration by the Civil Police. “The importance of the Scientific Police in these cases is to quantify the drug, know the nature of the drug, so that we can establish a standard of action, including related to the route to identify exactly where the drugs come from,” explained the delegate.
