The Institute of Forest Development and Biodiversity of Pará (Ideflor-Bio), in partnership with the Social Organization (OS) Pará 2000, held a workshop to prepare the Utinga State Park "Camillo Vianna" for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, COP 30, which will take place in November this year in Belém.

The program included the presence of staff from the environmental agency, the Environmental Police Battalion (BPA), the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur), and the Civil Defense of Pará, as well as employees from the OS, which manages the Park, and other partner entities, such as companies that operate bicycle rentals and ecotourism activities.

According to the manager of the Belém Administrative Region of Ideflor-Bio, Júlio Meyer, the workshop aims to create an action plan to adapt the Park to the increase in visitor numbers and the arrival of foreign visitors due to COP 30. "This action aims to adapt the Park not only to the number of visitors, which has been growing significantly, but also to this new audience that is expected to frequent the space this year," he emphasized.

Protagonism - Júlio Meyer also highlighted that Utinga is one of the 10 most visited parks in Brazil, according to data from the "Visitometer of Parks in Brazil," released at the 9th edition of the Parks of Brazil event, organized by the Semeia Institute in São Paulo (SP) in March of this year.

"Actions such as implementing Park signage, training service providers, and improving solid waste management, among others, are essential and prepare us for this important and grand event that our capital will host in the coming months," added the manager.

The director-president of OS Pará 2000, Ruan Rocha, emphasized that "Belém has been receiving more and more visitors from all over the world, and we want to ensure that the public has an amazing experience within the Park. The workshop was very interesting, as teamwork and the preparation of the complex's collaborators are essential to enhance various essential factors and ensure the preservation of this great natural reserve," he emphasized.

Service - Located on Avenida João Paulo II, in the Curió-Utinga neighborhood, the Utinga State Park operates from Wednesday to Monday, from 6 am to 5 pm, and remains closed on Tuesdays for maintenance. The space welcomes visitors of all ages and also schedules visits for schools and universities, which can be requested via email [email protected].
