Mounted Police Regiment celebrates 31 years with tributes and historical appreciation of Cavalry in Pará
The ceremony held at Mangueirão included decorations for military personnel, symbolic delivery of the regiment's coat of arms, and recognition of the role of Cavalry in public security in the state

The Mounted Police Regiment "Cassulo de Mello", a specialized unit of the Military Police of Pará, celebrated its 31st anniversary on Friday (9). The celebration was marked by a ceremony at the Mangueirão Complex in Belém, gathering civil and military authorities, troop representatives, and guests. The program also included celebrations for Cavalry Day, celebrated on May 10, in homage to the birth of Marshal Osório, the patron of the cavalry branch of the Brazilian Army.
During the ceremony, the commander of RPMont, Major Ramiro, read the order of the day, highlighting the historical role of Cavalry in the structure of the Military Police of Pará and its performance in ostensive policing and specialized missions in various regions of the state. As a form of recognition, the "Laureate of Personal Merit" and the "Tiradentes Medal" were awarded to military police officers who stood out throughout their careers in the corporation.

2nd Lieutenant Eduardo Coen emphasized the symbolism of the celebration for the troop. "This event is very important. It represents how essential Cavalry is to the military system, to the troop, and to the society of Pará, which admires the work of the institution," he highlighted.
One of the honorees was Sub-Lieutenant Anildo, who has been with the unit for three decades. "I have been with the regiment for 30 years. Since I graduated, I came to Cavalry. For me, it is a great emotion to be in this unit, and I thank God, the Military Police, and Cavalry for allowing me this opportunity and for being honored today by the corporation that I am so proud to be a part of," he stated.
One of the most symbolic moments of the ceremony was the delivery of the regiment's sword and the representative coat of arms to the commander-general of the Military Police of Pará, Colonel José Dilson Júnior. In his speech, the colonel highlighted the recent advances of the unit, driven by investments from the State Government.
"Ninety new horses were acquired after 12 years without replenishment in the herd. With this, we were able to not only restore the capital of the regiment but also strengthen the Special Missions Battalion in Santarém and Marabá. There was also the acquisition of equipment such as saddles, packing materials, and protective gear for the animals, such as leg guards and visual protectors, ensuring the physical integrity of our horses in mounted shock actions," he explained.
The celebration of the 31 years of RPMont reaffirms the commitment of Cavalry to public security, strategic policing at major events, and the preservation of a century-old tradition that dates back to the origins of the Military Police of Pará.
