In honor of Mother's Day, celebrated this Sunday (11), the Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation of Pará (Hemopa) held a special tribute to maternal protagonism in actions of solidarity and care for life. The campaign highlights mothers who regularly donate blood and also those who closely accompany the treatment of children with hematological diseases.

Bianca Farias and Maitê

The pedagogue and entrepreneur Bianca Ramylly Farias, a regular donor, shares the act of solidarity with her daughter Maitê, 7 years old. “I always say that donating blood is saving lives. We never know when we might need it. My daughter accompanies me and understands the value of this. She grew up seeing donation as something natural,” she said. Little Maitê is already following in her mother's footsteps: “I think it's beautiful when my mom donates blood. When I grow up, I want to help too,” she said.

Another touching story is that of Lieutenant Nurse Renata Freitas Almeida, who has type O negative blood, considered a universal donor. After becoming a mother, she decided to donate for the first time. “This is the first year I come to donate blood as a mother. My baby is 1 year and 3 months old. I am very happy because I know that a single bag can help up to four people. This makes me fulfilled and my heart full of gratitude.”

Motherhood is also synonymous with dedication for Keliane Carneiro, mother of Kelvy Lourant, a patient with major thalassemia. Undergoing treatment for almost 12 years at Hemopa, the young man depends on frequent transfusions, and Keliane has dedicated herself entirely to caring for her son.

“I put his well-being first. It is here at Hemopa that he receives his transfusions. I always say that, first, God comes in his life, and then Hemopa. This institution is like a second home to us,” she stated.

For the president of the Hemopa Foundation, Paulo Bezerra, motherhood represents values directly linked to the institution's mission. “Mother is the meaning of life, is the meaning of love, and this has everything to do with Hemopa's mission, which is precisely to bring life with love. So, to all the mothers who are part of our daily lives, our heartfelt thanks.”

Service: The Hemopa Foundation reinforces that donating blood is an act of solidarity that can save up to four lives. In the month of mothers, the invitation is for more women to join this chain of love. To donate, one must be healthy, weigh more than 50 kg, be between 16 and 69 years old, and present an official photo ID. The donation is quick, safe, and makes a difference in the lives of many people. Mothers who are breastfeeding should wait 12 months after giving birth.
