Antônio Lemos River Base seizes over a ton of drugs in one week in Marajó
A new seizure of 510 kilograms was recorded this Sunday (11), during inspection in the Breves strait

The public security forces of the State of Pará carried out, this Sunday (11), another significant seizure of drugs, totaling 510.2 kilograms of drugs intercepted during an inspection by the Integrated River Base Antônio Lemos, on the Tajapuru River, in the Breves strait, in Marajó. The action, integrated among state, environmental, and customs agencies, also resulted in the arrest of a man and the seizure of a cell phone and R$ 2,150 in cash.
Combined with the previous seizure carried out on May 5, which intercepted 490 kilograms of drugs, the actions account for over a ton of drugs removed from circulation in just one week, representing a severe blow against river trafficking in the region.
Interception and joint action
The drugs were located in the cargo compartment of a trailer transported by barges coupled to the pushboat "Jean Filho XXX", a vessel that had left Manaus at the beginning of the week. The suspicious cargo was inspected with the support of the sniffer dog "Jay-Z", from the Canine Action Battalion (BAC) of the Military Police, which indicated the presence of the drugs.

A total of 484.7 kilograms of skunk-type marijuana and 25.5 kilograms of a substance analogous to oxy were seized, along with a cell phone and the cash amount. The driver of the vehicle was caught in the act and, along with the illegal material, was sent for legal procedures.
The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, highlighted the progress of strategic actions in combating organized crime in the region. "The significant seizures reflect the unwavering commitment and intensification of efforts by our security forces, which are increasingly prepared and equipped to protect our society against the scourge of drug trafficking," he emphasized.
Integrated base is a reference in inspection
The Integrated River Base Antônio Lemos acts as a strategic point in combating drug trafficking, bringing together various agencies from the state and federal spheres. Established since June 2022 in the district of Antônio Lemos, the unit has been fundamental in curbing trafficking via waterways.

Only in October 2024, the base teams seized over 1 ton of drugs in 12 days of operation — the result of seven distinct actions carried out between the 19th and 30th of that month, proving the efficiency of integrated monitoring operations in the region.
