Hemopa and Estácio promote action to encourage blood donation among nursing students
Activity provided practical experience on hemotherapy and reinforced the importance of voluntary blood donation

The Pará Center for Hemotherapy and Hematology Foundation (Hemopa) held a blood donation campaign on Wednesday (14) in partnership with Estácio College in Ananindeua. The action, promoted at the Hemopa Foundation headquarters, aimed to raise awareness and encourage nursing students about the importance of voluntary blood donation.

The social worker at Hemopa, Lorene Mota, who accompanied the activity, highlighted the relevance of practical experience for academic training. “This interaction between theory and practice is essential. Here, students were able to closely understand the importance of donation and the role of the nurse in the areas of hemotherapy and hematology,” she stated. She thanked the educational institution for the partnership and reinforced the intention to maintain similar actions in the future.

For Professor Felipe Nascimento from Estácio, the visit was a valuable opportunity. “It was sensational. The students learned about the entire process, from reception to blood processing. Besides breaking myths, they were able to see up close the reality of the service and the importance of each step. This changes mindsets and encourages new donors.” The professor also left a message for those who still have fears: “Donating blood is an act of love. Your blood can save lives. Always donate.”
The student and donor Kézia Teixeira also spoke about the experience. “It was very interesting to understand each step of the process. This helps us think about whether we want to pursue this area. It was also important to demystify information that keeps potential donors away.”
Kézia shared the emotion of donating blood for the first time. “It’s a wonderful feeling to know that we are helping someone. Even without knowing who it is, it makes all the difference.”
