Between May 12 and 15, the municipality of Ourém, in the Capim Tourist Region, is conducting a survey of documentary sources and participatory diagnosis for the development of the Municipal Tourism Plan, an important process to support municipal tourism management. The entire process is supported by technical assistance and the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur).

Ourém, located in the northeastern region of Pará, has natural and cultural attractions that include spas, traditional communities, and the Guamá River, as well as a strong historical heritage dating back to the colonial period, with its old buildings and preserved traditions. The city has great potential for ecotourism, adventure tourism, and cultural tourism, offering visitors a unique experience of contact with nature and local culture.

“The expectation is that, with the creation of the Municipal Tourism Plan, Ourém will be able to enhance these attractions and become an increasingly accessible and organized tourist destination, attracting more visitors and generating more opportunities for the local population,” indicates Cleber Gomes da Silva, Interlocutor of the Tourism Regionalization Program and Tourism Specialist at Setur.

The plan's development is scheduled to occur in stages, with the analysis of information obtained from the participatory diagnosis, which will be complemented by other activities aimed at structuring proposals for the municipality. If the plan is approved by the City Council, Ourém will be one of the first municipalities in Pará to have its own structured plan.

“The creation of a tourism plan is essential to strategically direct actions, optimizing available resources and promoting the sustainable development of the sector. Our participation is a commitment to the quality of tourism in Ourém, and our goal is to provide the municipality with a solid tool that can boost tourism, respecting local specificities and promoting community inclusion in the decision-making process,” adds Gomes.

Ebe Potiguar Lima, Secretary of Tourism of Ourém, highlighted the relevance of this action for the municipality and the importance of the partnership with Setur in the development of the plan. “This is an important step for the development of Ourém as a tourist destination, and we are very pleased with Setur's support in this process. This partnership has been fundamental to ensure that the plan is developed based on real data and the needs of the population,” said Ebe.
