Belém now has a significant reinforcement in traffic inspection with the Operation Peace in Traffic, officially launched this Friday (16), at the Amazon Portal. The initiative is the result of an agreement signed between the City Hall of Belém, through the Municipal Security Secretariat (SEGBEL), and the Military Police of Pará, aimed at ensuring safety, urban mobility, and compliance with the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB).

The action involves about 300 agents, including military police and municipal traffic agents, who will work together to curb irregularities, increase presence on the streets, and restore order in the traffic of the capital of Pará.

The mayor of Belém, Igor Normando, highlighted that the operation represents a milestone in the reorganization of the city's traffic. According to him, the police underwent specific training after the formalization of the agreement with the State Government and are prepared to carry out approaches and inspections with legitimacy.

“With the qualified PM and reinforcement in the structure, we are ready to restore order to the traffic of Belém,” said the mayor. “Now the population can rest assured: traffic laws will be respected and the Military Police will ensure safety and organization,” he added.

The general commander of the Military Police of Pará, Colonel Dilson Júnior, also emphasized the agility in preparing the teams and the role of the operation in strengthening urban coexistence. “As soon as the agreement was signed, the Military Police prepared to act immediately on the streets, bringing more peace to traffic and more order to Belém,” he stated.

“Belém is an amazing city, but it has gone through a period of neglect, where laws were no longer enforced. And we know: laws are meant to be respected. Our commitment is to help restore respect for the city and collective coexistence,” the commander added.

Approval from the population – Belém resident, Larissa Santana do Amaral, 27, praised the initiative. “I think this renewal will be very good for the city. We know that traffic is not that great, but with these actions, I believe we will have an efficient improvement,” she stated. She also highlighted the recurrence of infractions. “I see many irregularities, especially motorcyclists without helmets and without plates. This is very dangerous, both for pedestrians and for those driving,” she pointed out.

The Operation Peace in Traffic will continue until May 22, with patrolling on the main traffic corridors of the capital, focusing on compliance with traffic regulations and the preservation of road safety for all citizens.
