On this Friday (16), the Integrated Center for Inclusion and Rehabilitation (CIIR) and the Specialized Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder (Cetea), in Belém, concluded the programming of Sustainable Week, promoted by the Sustainability Commission of CIIR. The initiative, which started last Tuesday (13), involved users, companions, and professionals from the two health units of the State Government, with activities focused on environmental awareness and community integration.

According to Denise Morais, supervisor of the Arts and Culture sector and president of the Sustainability Commission of CIIR, the actions were aimed at environmental education and the encouragement of sustainable practices, focusing on reducing environmental, social, and economic impacts. "Sustainable practices, such as the Reuse Fair, proper waste treatment (Ecopoint), the Eco Soap workshops, and Food Reuse workshops show the Center's audience that it is possible to address environmental issues both individually and collectively. In addition to minimizing environmental impact, they also generate economic and social benefits," highlighted Denise.

She also emphasized that the presence of sustainable activities in health units contributes to environmental preservation, cost reduction, and the promotion of well-being for users and staff.

Concrete results – The programming of Sustainable Week included the Ecopoint, a space dedicated to the collection and proper treatment of recyclable waste, which collected over 160 kilograms of materials delivered by users, companions, and staff from CIIR and Cetea. In just the first five months of this year, more than two tons of waste have already been collected, reinforcing the environmental commitment of the Rehabilitation Complex.

Another highlight of the program was the Food Reuse Workshop, held on the morning of this Friday (16) at CIIR, led by Denise Morais. The action taught ways to reduce waste and use food in its entirety, promoting awareness and savings.

Participants also attended the 5th edition of the Reuse Fair, an initiative that encourages the reuse of materials and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Family entrepreneurship – Outside the official programming of the Week, but with great participation, Cetea hosted, on Thursday (15), the 3rd Entrepreneurs Fair, a space dedicated for mothers, fathers, and guardians of users to present their products and services. During the event, the Eco Soap Workshop was held, taught by administrative assistant Igor Monteiro, with support from Denise Morais.

Valdelice Souza, 49, entrepreneur of the booth “Val Loja Virtual” and mother of a user served by CIIR for almost seven years, participated in the workshop for the first time. "I found this initiative from CIIR very interesting because we, mothers of users assisted by the Center, have more opportunities to undertake and save. The workshop is important because sometimes we throw away a lot of oil. It will prevent a lot of waste. I will store and put into practice what I learned. I appreciate the opportunity to participate. It was a privilege and a way to raise awareness among the population about recycling and the correct disposal of waste," she stated.

Reference in rehabilitation – CIIR is a reference in Pará for medium and high complexity assistance to People with Disabilities (PcDs) visual, physical, auditory, and intellectual. Access to the Center's services is made through referrals from health units, through the Regulation Center of the municipalities, which send requests to State Regulation. The user's profile is analyzed by the State Regulation System (SER).

Service: CIIR is an agency of the Government of Pará, managed by the National Institute for Social and Human Development (INDSH), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). The Center is located at Rodovia Arthur Bernardes, No. 1000, in Belém.
