The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the Directorate of Public Security Policies and Social Prevention (DPS), held a training session for 66 security agents and municipal employees for specialized assistance and support to the Pro-Woman Program Pará network, implemented in the municipality of Portel, in the Marajó region, on the morning of this Wednesday (21).

The course was aimed at public agents from the Civil and Military Police of the State, as well as representatives from the Municipal Secretariats of Health, Education, Fisheries, Social Assistance, Urban Mobility, and the Municipal Guard. The training took place at the Portel Convention Center.

The municipality was also provided with a pink vehicle — a symbol of the program — intended for responding to emergency occurrences related to violence against women, as highlighted by the Secretary of Public Security of Pará, Ualame Machado.

“Considering all the complexity involved in cases of violence against women, it is essential to understand that specialized assistance is a fundamental part of both the prevention and repression of these occurrences. Therefore, we conducted this training with the entire support network to ensure a more qualified and specific service to the victims. In this context, we allocated a pink vehicle to the Military Police of Portel, strengthening the frontline in combating crimes committed against women, especially in a region that demands attention like Marajó,” emphasized the head of Segup.

Program

Launched in 2022, in homage to International Women's Day, the Pro-Woman Program aims to strengthen the support, assistance, and protection network for women victims of domestic violence, as well as to consolidate public policies to confront aggressors throughout the state.

The training focused on aligning services according to the Pro-Woman Program protocol, Maria da Penha Patrol, and other support mechanisms for victims in the municipality. In total, 66 security agents and members of the protection network participated in the training.

“Our focus is to qualify all security agents and representatives of the agencies that make up the support network to provide more effective reception and assistance to the victims. Thus, we can structure a more specialized support network entirely aimed at combating violence against women. Today, with the inclusion of Portel, we further reinforce this commitment in Marajó,” highlighted Delegate Ariane Melo, Director of Security Policies and Social Prevention at Segup.

Sergeant Palheta from the Military Police was one of the professionals trained to assist women victims of violence and emphasized the importance of the initiative in the city.

“I would like to express my admiration for the program and the initiative of the State Government, especially with its implementation here in our region, which contributes to addressing these occurrences. We know that domestic and family violence against women has been fought with great effort, not only by the Military Police but also in conjunction with other agencies. This integrated work is essential to reduce cases. The presence of pink vehicles and specialized teams will provide a more humanized and effective service, encouraging victims to report and breaking the cycle of violence, as well as helping to reduce underreporting,” said the officer.

Initiative

Initially launched in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and expanded to other municipalities, the Pro-Woman Pará program has already trained 1,800 security agents and members of the state and municipal protection network in 23 locations across the state. The program has already provided assistance to about 6,000 women in situations of violence and has 39 exclusive vehicles for assisting these victims.

The program operates through the public security emergency channel, 190, of the Integrated Operations Center (Ciop), linked to Segup. Upon receiving a report — made by the victim herself, neighbors, or family members — a pink vehicle with a qualified team is dispatched to the location, ensuring a quick, humanized, and effective service, aimed at combating any form of violence against women.

Currently, the Pro-Woman program operates in the localities of Abaetetuba, Ananindeua, Altamira, Barcarena, Belém, Mosqueiro, Bragança, Breves, Castanhal, Cametá, Dom Eliseu, Marituba, Marabá, Paragominas, Salinópolis, Santarém, Soure, São Miguel do Guamá, Tailândia, Tucuruí, Redenção, Xinguara, and now, Portel.
