The capital of the State, Belém, is hosting the 2nd National Meeting of the Efficient Purchasing Program for the Unified Public Security System (SUSP). The event began on the morning of this Tuesday (27), under the coordination of the National Secretariat of Public Security (Senasp), through the National Public Security Fund Management Directorate, in partnership with the State Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), at the Hangar Amazon Convention and Exhibition Center. During the ceremony, Belém received vehicles to strengthen Public Security in Pará. Governor Helder Barbalho emphasized the important partnership between the Federal Government and the State Government.

“This is a significant moment of partnership with the Federal Government through the National Public Security Fund, where we are receiving 16 vehicles that will collaborate and reinforce the Military Police, the Fire Department, and also the Civil Police, in addition to the boat that arrives for the River Group, and three more boats will come to increase our quantity, spreading across our rivers to protect the riverside communities and the cities that directly interact with the rivers in Pará,” emphasized Helder Barbalho.

The governor added: "In addition, we have participated in discussions that allow the union of efforts from state secretariats, with the partnership of the Ministry, to enable competitive purchases that increasingly strengthen the integration of the national security system, so that more technology reaches all police forces in Brazil, allowing us to exchange strategies that can integrate actions against crime in our country. And, of course, Pará's experience, the numbers from our State showing a reduction in crime position our State, collaboratively, to serve as an example for Brazil, so that Brazil is safe and, of course, the Amazon and Pará continue to combat crime and ensure peace for the population,” stated the head of the state executive.

The meeting, which will continue until next Friday (30), brings together the 26 states of the federation and Brasília (DF) with the aim of presenting to the security agencies that are part of SUSP, the strategies and initiatives developed by Senasp, to promote innovation in the contracting and procurement process. In addition to improving and boosting the actions of the Efficient Purchasing Program of SUSP, which aims to optimize the use of public resources allocated to public security in all states of the federation.

According to the director of the National Public Security Fund, Camila Pintarelli, the State of Pará has demonstrated what it means to be courageous in dealing with the need to reduce the crime rate in a structured manner.

"Pará has shown that it knows how to handle the structuring of public security and does it well. I say that it is embracing the largest global event in terms of climate and doing so sustainably. So, I open by saying that it is an honor for the National Public Security Fund to celebrate a year of SUSP Purchases in a State that materializes this sentiment that needs to permeate and be reclaimed in our Brazilian society, which is courage. I believe that if we face our challenges with courage, we can leave a brick, leave some legacy to change society with the help of security forces, because I was just talking about the fund and showing the importance we must give to the restructuring of public security in Brazil. For many years, we focused on the finalistic policy, debating what needs to be done and not what needs to be structured, so that what needs to be done actually happens. And I think this team, together with all the states, especially with the state of Pará, has turned a page marked by this thought. We must treat public security in terms of public security structure. That is precisely what this event materializes. I reiterate that the National Public Security Fund is the main financing instrument for public security in Brazil and from 2020 to today, we have transferred almost 7 billion reais to the states as mandatory transfers. This is the way for us to deliver public security policy and Pará deserves congratulations,” emphasized the director of the National Public Security Fund.

More than 180 representatives from public security forces are participating in the event, which will address the axes: governance of public procurement, strategic planning, plan amas, technological innovations for SUSP, parliamentary amendments, and procurement planning, with the Program facilitating and inducing institutional planning, bringing state public security agencies closer to the Federal Government.

“We are hosting today the Second National Meeting regarding the purchases of the Unified Public Security System, where various ideas, good practices, and acquisitions will be highlighted here among the 27 units of the federation present. Pará, we are pleased to say, is one of those states that have nationally recognized good practices, and that is what we will be able to show here as well. In addition, today we are receiving just over 2 million and 600 thousand reais in equipment from Senasp, including vehicles and a boat, so that we can reinforce policing and crime investigation in our state, an important partnership for us to always advance,” stated the head of the Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado.
