Belém and Altamira will be highlights of the cocoa and chocolate segment at events in June
The capital of Pará will host the Chocolate and Flor Pará Fair, through Sedap and Faepa. Altamira will host the Chocolate Xingu, a partnership between Sedap and the municipality.

As an important agricultural crop produced in Pará, cocoa will be highlighted in June this year. From June 6 to 8, the Cocoa and Chocolate Fair and Flor Pará 2025 will take place at the Hangar Convention Center of the Amazon. Then, from June 26 to 29, the International Chocolate and Cocoa Festival will occur in the municipality of Altamira (Xingu Integration Region).
The events are promoted by the State Government, through the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap). The Cocoa and Chocolate Fair and Flor Pará is a joint initiative with the Faepa/Senar System (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Pará and National Rural Learning Service - Senar). The Chocolate Xingu has the partnership of the Municipal City Hall of Altamira.

The two programs, explains the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Fisheries, Giovanni Queiroz, are funded with resources from the Cocoa Support Fund of Pará (Funcacau), whose advisors met on Thursday (29) at the Sedap headquarters in Belém. At the meeting, among other natural benefits generated by cocoa cultivation, the head of Sedap highlighted that the fruit is cultivated in Pará in agroforestry systems that use the fruit as a potential tool for rehabilitating degraded areas.

The organizers of the events expect a minimum audience of 100,000 visitors to attend the venues where the programs will take place. In the case of Altamira, the Chocolate Xingu will occur at the Vilmar Soares Events Center.
Notable Production - The cocoa production in Pará covers 229,000 hectares of planted areas and has 32,000 active producers. More than 144,000 tons of cocoa are produced annually, according to data from the Pará Agricultural Defense Agency (Adepará).
The municipality of Medicilândia (in the Xingu RI) is the largest producer in Pará, with an average production of 50,000 tons per harvest involving 3,000 producers. Like Altamira and Uruará, other highlights in the cocoa segment, Medicilândia is located in the region popularly known as Transamazon, due to BR-230, a transversal highway that provides access to these municipalities.
