ADEPARÁ seizes 50 boxes of juice imported from an Asian country without documentation of origin
The product was seized in a joint action with the security agencies operating at the Candiru river base
A joint operation carried out by the security agencies operating at the Candiru river base in Óbidos, in the Lower Amazon, and by the agricultural inspection of the Agricultural Defense Agency of the State of Pará (ADEPARÁ) seized, this week, 50 boxes of juice imported from Thailand without documentation of origin.
The ADEPARÁ agents identified the product while inspecting the vessel Ana Karoline II, which transports cargo from Amazonas to Pará.
Upon opening the packaging, it was found to be a vegetable byproduct, manufactured in Thailand, imported from British Guiana, where it was labeled by the distributor, without any accompanying or presented documentation.
In the 50 boxes, there were 24 units of 290 ml each.
All material was seized and subsequently destroyed, with a seizure report issued by the agricultural inspection. The destination of the cargo was the city of Santarém, in western Pará.
According to the inspection, this is international smuggling, intercepted by the public security and agricultural defense apparatus.
“The team on duty at the agricultural inspection post set up at the Candiru base in Óbidos has been doing an excellent job intercepting products without provenance, ensuring the protection of our borders. This is a reflection of the Active, effective, and committed Surveillance of Adepará, which brings the benefit of ensuring public health and curbing unfair trade,” said the acting director of the defense agency, Lucionila Pimentel.
