Setur participates in the II Responsible Tourism Meeting in Foz do Iguaçu (PR)
The event, which brings together representatives from various national and international institutions, promotes panels and discussions on the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism.

Technicians from the State Secretariat of Tourism of Pará (Setur-Pa) are present at the II Responsible Tourism Meeting, held this Monday and Tuesday (June 02 and 03), at the Visitor Reception Center of Itaipu Tourism, in Foz do Iguaçu (PR). The participation of the team of tourism specialists is part of the public policies of the State of Pará regarding responsible tourism and the protection of children and adolescents against the challenges of tourism activities.
“We were invited by the National Coordination of Responsible Tourism of the Ministry of Tourism (MTur) to participate in the event because we have been working on this topic for many years and we are also in focus due to the upcoming COP 30 in Belém,” reveals Setur tourism specialist, Rosely Coroa.
The event, which gathers representatives from various national and international institutions, promotes panels and discussions on the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism. The program included the International Seminar on the Prevention of the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents in Tourism, highlighting innovative experiences, good governmental practices, and strategies for inter-institutional coordination.
“Setur, since the existence of the now-defunct Paratur, has been working on the prevention of the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents in tourism. We always hold lectures in the municipalities of Pará. The importance of participating in a national meeting is to further empower ourselves to learn about new national and international strategies on the topic that falls under Responsible Tourism, in addition to closing actions for Belém before COP 30,” explains Rosely.

Among the highlights was the panel "Marajó – Paths of Care and Resistance," which focused on the reality of one of the most symbolic regions of the Brazilian Amazon, with participation from representatives of the Dom Azcona Institute, Mondó Institute, and mediation by Itaipu Binacional. Today's program continues with the panel "Free Childhoods – Innovative Paths in the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation in Tourism," featuring specialists from institutions such as Atlantica Hospitality International, Pernambuco Combat Network, Childhood, and the Tourism Secretariat of Sergipe.
In the afternoon, the program includes a cultural presentation by the Fraternity Alliance Association and the panel "Connections that Protect: The Experience of Foz do Iguaçu." Following that, there will be a roundtable discussion promoted by the Regional Action Group of the Americas (Gara), with participation from representatives of countries such as Colombia and Costa Rica, as well as entities like the Ministry of Tourism and the OAS. Closing the day, the panel "Challenges and Advances in Combating the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents" brought together representatives from Conanda, the Ministry of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the DF, the Federal Police, and the City Council of Aracaju.
“The active participation of Setur technicians in the discussions demonstrates the engagement of Pará with a tourism agenda based on human rights, social inclusion, and sustainable development. The presence of Pará at the meeting also contributed to expanding national and international coordination around public policies that combine tourism and the integral protection of childhood,” assures the Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa.
