Government of Pará delivers over a thousand prescription glasses to residents of Ananindeua
Free distribution benefited more than a thousand people served by the Program Por Todas Elas, at the Usina da Paz in Icuí-Guajará
More than a thousand residents of the municipality of Ananindeua, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, benefited from the free delivery of prescription glasses carried out by the State Government on the morning of this Tuesday (03). The action took place at the Usina da Paz Professor Amintas Pinheiro, located in the Icuí-Guajará neighborhood.
The initiative benefited people who participated in the actions of the Por Todas Elas program on April 14, 15, and 16, when ophthalmological consultations were held. In total, 1,209 new glasses were distributed, ensuring better conditions for eye health and quality of life for the local population.
According to the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth de Fátima Braga, the delivery of glasses represents more than an immediate benefit. “We are talking about dignity; this delivery represents citizenship, health, and care for people, because that is what Por Todas Elas does: take care of people. A simple lens can mean the return to reading, to work, to studies. It is the government present in people's lives,” she emphasized.
Among the beneficiaries is retiree Francisca Monteiro, 63, who had not changed her glasses for a year. “I had my consultation here at the Usina da Paz and now I have my brand new glasses. It will make all the difference in my life. It’s a victory, thank you very much,” she said.
Also receiving glasses was saleswoman Eliane Silva, 40, who was already having difficulty seeing. “I really needed it because my glasses were outdated, my prescription had increased, and I was having trouble reading. Now, with these new glasses, everything has changed. It’s like I’ve gained a new vision. This project came to help us,” she said.
Por Todas Elas - The Por Todas Elas program focuses on promoting citizenship and expanding access to health services, especially for women. The actions also benefit the community in general, with services such as document issuance, medical and dental care, and educational activities.
Professor Elielson Almeida, 43, was happy with the short waiting time to receive the new glasses. “We know how important this service is, as such a product can cost almost a thousand reais and many people cannot afford it. These glasses mean freedom for me, especially being a wheelchair user; I will be able to see better, glasses are quality of life,” he emphasized.
Service - People who could not participate in the delivery this Tuesday (03) can go to UsiPaz Prof. Amintas Pinheiro - at Estrada do Icuí-Guajará, corner with Avenida Independência - to pick up the glasses, upon presentation of an official photo identification document.
