Adepará extends deadline to update production animal registration in the State
The campaign started in May and has been extended for another month with the aim of maintaining the health of the herds

The Agricultural Defense Agency of the State of Pará (Adepará) has extended the deadline for producers to update the registration of production animals on rural properties in the State.
The extension of Ordinance No. 2229, dated April 29, 2025, which established the obligation and guidelines for the Animal Registration Update Campaign, was published this Wednesday, the 4th, in the State Official Gazette (DOE).
The new deadline for submitting documents has been extended until July 16, 2025. By this date, the rural producer or their legal representative must visit an Adepará unit, bringing an official photo ID and a complete list of all species present on the properties, such as: cattle, buffalo, horses, donkeys, mules, pigs, sheep, goats, birds, bees, and aquatic animals.

In this stage of the campaign, producers in the municipalities of the Marajó Archipelago will not need to update their registration.
Agricultural Registration - Agricultural registration is very important because it provides, among other information, knowledge of the territories, which allows the development of strategies for prevention, mitigation, control, and eradication of diseases, promoting herd health.
With the recent international recognition as a foot-and-mouth disease-free zone without vaccination, the registration of herds becomes essential for the rural producer to maintain risk-based surveillance measures, adopted in place of the withdrawal of vaccination against foot-and-mouth disease. Among the actions are the clinical inspection of animals susceptible to foot-and-mouth disease, mapping of properties, regular inspection of properties, and agricultural registration.
Currently, Pará has the second largest herd in the country with over 26 million animals. Throughout the State, there are more than 120,000 registered producers at the Defense Agency, who produce on about 20 million hectares of land, approximately 15% of the territory of Pará.

In the 20 regional offices of Adepará, staff are ready to assist rural producers who come to update their data. “This period of registration update mobilizes the Agency's units throughout the State, considering that we are present in all 144 municipalities of Pará, and requires greater effort from the staff to ensure quality service to the rural producer who travels to re-register their herds,” said Lucionila Pimentel, acting general director.
