Works on the Chaves Waterway Terminal are progressing rapidly
With over 69% completed, the port is expected to be delivered in the second half of this year

The population of Chaves, in the Marajó archipelago, will receive the new Passenger and Cargo Waterway Terminal of the municipality. Built by the State Government, through the Port and Waterway Company of the State of Pará (CPH), this will be the 12th port delivered in the region, improving the river network and regional integration.
With over 69% of the services completed, with 64% related to civil works and 74% corresponding to the naval part, the renovation work has already completed the stages of demolition, foundations, reinforced concrete walkway, recovery of structural elements, masonry, coatings, metal roofing with respective tiling of the terminal, and installation of the ceiling.
Currently, the services of plastering and painting, driving the defense piles of the metal ramps, as well as the completion of electrical and logic installations are ongoing.
Services for placing the ceiling, painting, and installation of doors and windows are also being executed. "It is with great satisfaction that we celebrate that the works of the new Chaves Waterway Terminal — a project eagerly awaited by the entire population, are in the final stages. This terminal represents more than infrastructure. It is progress for river transport in the region,” highlighted the president of CPH, Hilton Aguiar.
Comfort - the new terminal will feature boarding and disembarking areas for passengers and cargo, ticket counters, a snack bar, male and female restrooms - and for people with disabilities, public agency rooms, access ramp, and floating dock.
CPH has invested in a structure designed to provide the riverside population with a suitable place for those who board, disembark, and use the space daily. “The new terminal will boost tourism, facilitate the flow of local production — especially from fishing, livestock, and agriculture — and, above all, ensure more dignity in the movement of the people of Chaves,” exemplified the president.
More infrastructure - Since 2019, 11 terminals have already been delivered in the Marajó region. Municipalities such as Curralinho, Ponta de Pedras, Santa Cruz do Arari, Cachoeira do Arari, Portel, Muaná, and Afuá, among others, have been benefited. Now, in addition to Chaves, Breves, Oeiras do Pará, and Salvaterra have ongoing works.
The reconstruction and construction of terminals in the Marajó region have ensured greater accessibility and safety for users. The State Government's investment in structural interventions has enhanced the facilities, in addition to facilitating the movement of people, the transport of goods, and the flow of production.
