Government of Pará holds Opening Class and begins training of over 1,100 new firefighters and military police
The event, attended by the governor and the lieutenant governor, marks the beginning of the training courses for officers and soldiers of PMPA and the Fire Department

The Government of Pará held, this Wednesday (4), the Opening Class of the training courses for officers (CFO) and soldiers (CFP), starting the preparation of 1,113 new members of the State's security forces. The ceremony, held by the Military Police and the Military Fire Department, marks the government's commitment to valuing public safety.
During the event, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the importance of increasing the workforce to strengthen security in the State.
“This is an important moment to start the course for the expansion of the Pará Military Police and the Fire Department. With these classes, we reach 10,000 new public security servants in the State. Prepared people, qualified to serve and protect. May, at this moment of qualification, they be ready to protect lives and care for the population on the streets. It is the Pará Military Police and the Fire Department advancing to serve and protect society well,” said the governor.

Lieutenant Governor Hana Ghassan congratulated all students and families and emphasized the importance of the new police officers for the State. “It is a milestone, thanks to a responsible management that values fiscal balance of public accounts and the strengthening of the State. Today is a milestone on this date, it is the realization of a firm and non-negotiable commitment to the safety of the population. For them, who understand not only the development with equipment but mainly with people. Without security, there is no peace. Without security, there is no protection, there is no justice.”
The commander-general of the Military Police, Colonel Dilson Júnior, emphasized the investment in training and the responsibility of the students during the process, which coincides with an event of international importance.
"Of the more than R$ 11 million invested, R$ 8.9 million were allocated to the Soldiers Training Course. Now, each student's mission is to dedicate themselves to the maximum. The next nine months will pass quickly, and during this period, we will have the COP30 taking place in Belém. On that occasion, the new police officers will already be alongside the troops to ensure even more security," he declared. "I fully trust in the competence of our instructors to transmit knowledge and experience. I wish success to all in this journey. May God bless, and may we celebrate another graduation of soldiers and officers at the end. Count on this command and this government. Forward PMPA!"

Colonel Jayme de Aviz Benjó, commander-general of the Fire Department, also took the opportunity to mention the investments made in public safety in Pará. “In the year 2024, we received a total investment of over 112 billion. Investment directed to our logistical infrastructure and especially to valuing our greatest asset, our human resources, our troops. Only in training, in operational courses, we invested about one million four hundred thousand reais to prepare our troops for citizen service," concluded the commander.
The Secretary of Public Security, Ualame Machado, emphasized that the investments are part of a larger project for the transformation of the State. “Today we are delivering a much better Pará. It is still not the Pará we want. The Pará we want we will deliver together with you,” he declared.
Training - A total of 104 students started the courses in CFO and 1,009 in CFP. The activities are distributed among the Military Police Academy Colonel Fontoura (APM), in Marituba, the Center for Training and Improvement of Soldiers (CFAP), in Belém, and four decentralized poles in Mosqueiro, Castanhal, Santa Izabel, and Barcarena.
With a student body composed of 756 men and 253 women in CFP, and 73 men and 31 women in CFO, the 2025/2026 class also marks progress in female participation in the corporation, with equal conditions in the selection process.
In the Fire Department troop, 30 officer cadets from CBM and 465 soldiers started the course.

For many, this moment represents the realization of a dream. This is the case of the retired Military Police colonel, Nelson Norat, who spoke emotionally about his son's achievement.
“My son signed up always looking in the mirror at home and the opportunity. And he succeeded, thank God. The expectation is that he graduates and is able to serve our people.”
Student Brenda Delmeira, 25, shared her personal overcoming to reach the training course. “This was a much-anticipated moment. The exam has many stages, and each one was a challenge. I studied with my son in my lap, shared a house with friends. I came from Imperatriz, Maranhão, and I am very happy to be here. This is the first exam without a quota for women; we compete equally with men. I want to take this course with excellence and serve society.”
