The 5th State Conference on Worker Health began this Wednesday (4) at the Hangar Convention Center in the Amazon, in Belém. The event is promoted by the State Health Council of Pará (CES/PA) with support from the State Department of Public Health (Sespa). With the central theme "Worker Health as a Human Right", the conference marks the resumption of the debate in the state after more than ten years and gathers around 500 participants, including delegates, managers, SUS workers, counselors, specialists, and representatives of social control.

The opening ceremony was attended by the State Secretary of Health, Ivete Gadelha Vaz, who represented the Governor of the State. In her speech, the manager emphasized the importance of direct dialogue with society in formulating effective public policies. "It is essential that we are all here, gathered, to discuss and collectively build public policies that ensure the health and safety of the workers in our state. Active listening from society is crucial in this process, as it is you who experience the challenges and needs of the world of work on a daily basis."

The opening was also attended by the deputy secretaries of Sespa, Edney Pereira and Heloisa Guimarães, reaffirming the current administration's commitment to promoting health in workplaces throughout the state.

Historic Resumption of the Debate - The state stage of the conference is the result of mobilization that began with 76 municipal conferences held in all regions of Pará. The president of CES/PA, Danielle Cruz, highlighted the participatory and democratic nature of the event.

"This is a space for true listening, collective construction, and strengthening actions that ensure protection for the health of those who work. This conference was called by the National Health Council and represents a historic moment for us to resume this essential agenda."

Over the next few days, participants will discuss topics such as the National Policy on Worker Health, the impacts of new labor relations on the physical and mental health of the economically active population, and the strengthening of popular participation in social control of SUS.

The program includes thematic panels, working groups, cultural presentations, and, at the end, the election of 52 delegates who will represent Pará at the 5th National Conference on Worker Health (5th CNSTT), which will be held from August 18 to 21 in Brasília.
