The Usina da Paz in the Guamá neighborhood of Belém celebrated World Environment Day on the morning of this Thursday (5) with a special program of education and environmental awareness. The event featured an exhibition of resources and pedagogical works, as well as educational dynamics and cultural presentations.

The initiative was promoted by the State Department of Education (Seduc), through the Hospital and Home Educational Care Program (AEHD), linked to the Special Education Coordination (Coees), in partnership with the Citizenship Articulation Secretariat (Seac). The works exhibited are the result of the efforts of children and young people served in hospital and home classes.

According to Eliana Celino, coordinator of the Hospital and Home Educational Care, the exhibition is the result of continuous work developed throughout the first semester. “These are activities developed during the year, with the creation of materials by students within the areas of knowledge of Natural Sciences. Both elementary and high school students participated, all undergoing health treatment in hospitals in the metropolitan region of Belém,” highlighted the coordinator.

The AEHD serves an average of 200 students per month, including children, adolescents, and adults undergoing health treatment, enrolled in elementary, high school, and Youth and Adult Education (EJA). The pedagogical activities are carried out within hospitals and public shelters in the cities of Belém, Marituba, and Ananindeua.

Student Nilson Marques, 14 years old, who participates in home care, praised the program and highlighted the importance of the theme. “It was really cool to see our work displayed. We learn that taking care of the environment is also taking care of our health and our future. I really enjoyed participating,” he said.
