Detran trains teachers to bring traffic education to classrooms throughout Pará
The initiative focuses on teachers of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I and aims to incorporate traffic themes into the school routine

On Friday (6), the auditorium of the State Traffic Department (Detran) hosted educators from various education networks for an interactive training aimed at the formation of Basic Education teachers. The activity is part of the project "Education that Transforms Lives," an initiative developed in partnership with the State Department of Education (Seduc) and the Municipal Department of Education of Belém (Semec).
The action marks the beginning of the pilot class of the course "Teacher Training for Safe Traffic and Citizens," aimed at teachers of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I from 1st to 5th grade in public and private networks. During the training, topics such as the concepts of Traffic Education and how to apply the theme of Traffic Education pedagogically in schools were addressed, as well as communication in traffic, emphasizing the importance of teaching horizontal and vertical signage for the safety of children on the road, in addition to the role of citizens in building a safer traffic environment.
"The project is aimed at teachers from private, state, and municipal networks of Early Childhood Education and from the first to the fifth year of Elementary School I. The first stage of the project consists of training teachers within the current legislation to work on traffic education from early childhood to university education," explained Geisa Tavares, an educator from the Traffic Education Coordination. "In the second stage, the educators from the Coordination will visit the school, and this already trained teacher will receive the educational kit for students focused on a traffic theme within the regionalized context of the state of Pará," she added.
During the training, the importance of incorporating traffic into children's daily lives was reinforced by educators from the education network. "Today's lecture was very important. The teachers who attended were able to learn more about traffic education, which is a fundamental subject. We were already working on this theme with the students in September during National Traffic Week, but with this training we can expand the work throughout the year," said Gabriela Nascimento, an educator from the Primeira Infância School. "With this, we can encourage children to develop responsibility regarding traffic laws, collective living, and love for life from an early age," she highlighted.

At the end of the activity, participating teachers received didactic-pedagogical kits with content aimed at students of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I from 1st to 5th grade, with language and illustrations based on local reality. The material was designed so that students feel included and represented, encouraging greater identification with the themes addressed.
The project is aligned with the guidelines of the 2024-2027 Multiannual Plan and with the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), in addition to following the determinations of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), which provides for the inclusion of Traffic Education at all levels and modalities of education.
Focusing on citizen formation and the promotion of road safety, the initiative seeks to incorporate the theme into the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) of schools and engage the school community, including parents and guardians. The execution and monitoring are carried out by the team of the Traffic Education Coordination of Detran-Pa, ensuring the effectiveness and continuity of educational practices.
