In Marabá, the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará Dr. Geraldo Veloso (HRSP) has strengthened its humanization policy with actions that promote comprehensive care for patients. The project "MoveMente," developed by volunteers, combines empathy, active listening, and interactive activities to contribute to the hospital recovery process.

Kaique Brito, 9 years old, a resident of Pacajá in the Xingu region, was hospitalized after falling from a horse. "I liked the games and made several drawings. It felt like I was at school with my friends. It was very good," the boy said.

Developed by medical students as volunteers, and with the support of the hospital's humanization service, the project provides moments of lightness and joy to hospitalized patients, especially children. The initiative includes conversation circles and playful games that promote physical and emotional well-being, significantly contributing to recovery and welcome during the hospital stay.

Isadora Rosa, 6 years old, a resident of Jacundá in the Carajás region, also participated in the action. Hospitalized for cardiac treatment, she described the experience with enthusiasm:
"It was very good to paint. There were crayons of all colors, I had never seen so many. I drew a princess with a beautiful dress and a shiny crown. I was happy because it felt like I was in a magical place where everything was colorful," she highlighted.

Medical student Gilmara Furlan, project coordinator, emphasized the importance of the initiative. "The 'MoveMente' was born to make the hospital experience more human, prioritizing comprehensive care, which involves not only clinical treatment but also emotional support and empathy. This experience also shapes us as more sensitive professionals committed to the well-being of patients," she stated.

Reference in humanization

Under the management of the Institute of Social and Environmental Health of the Amazon (ISSAA), in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the Regional Hospital of Southeast is a reference in humanization in the Carajás region. The unit maintains 26 active projects focused on welcoming and the well-being of patients.

Daiane Uszinsky, humanization analyst at the hospital, reinforces the importance of these actions. "Our goal is to make each person feel welcomed and cared for, providing a lighter and more humanized hospital experience. We create bonds of trust and empathy, making the stay more comfortable," she stated.

She also highlighted the fundamental role of volunteers, who dedicate time and talent to bring joy and comfort to patients. "In 2024, we promoted more than 200 humanization actions, reinforcing our commitment to humanized and quality care. These initiatives are only possible thanks to partnerships and the dedication of volunteers committed to the well-being of patients," concluded Daiane.

Profile: Services at the Regional Hospital of Southeast Pará are 100% through the Unified Health System (SUS). The unit has 135 beds, including 97 for clinical hospitalization and 38 in Intensive Care Units (ICU) - Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal.
