Starting this Sunday (15), Pará has another option for an international route with a direct flight to Miami (USA), operated by Gol Linhas Aéreas. There will be two direct weekly flights, on Thursdays and Sundays, reaching three flights per week on Tuesdays during the COP30 period. The initiative reinforces the prominence and strategy of the State Government for internationalization, increasing connectivity and the air network of Pará in the year of COP30.

The celebration of the new route took place during a commemorative dinner for guests at the Casa do Saulo restaurant, in the Cultural Space Casa das Onze Janelas, in Belém, which brought together executives from GOL and Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA), the concessionaire of Belém International Airport, government authorities, and key representatives of the local tourism market, such as operators, agencies, and travel agents from Pará.

To highlight the new BEL-MIA route and the gastronomic and cultural riches of the Amazon, chef Saulo Jennings prepared a special menu for the evening, inspired by Tapajonic cuisine.

The head of the Tourism department, Eduardo Costa, spoke about the negotiations and efforts of the State Government in planning and seeking partnerships with airlines. “These negotiations are not simple; companies need very rigorous strategic planning, and they have to overcome many international barriers, regulatory barriers for these flights to become economically sustainable and also profitable. We managed to approve a law at the end of last year that authorizes the granting of subsidies to the air sector in Pará, which allowed advances in strengthening the sector and expanding the air network,” he points out.

“We are celebrating today; we are consolidating a legacy that goes beyond the Climate Conference. We will work to make these flights permanent; we will promote Pará even more abroad to attract tourists to our region, creating new connections, improving the network, and increasing the number of flights,” Costa added.

The Minister of Tourism, Celso Sabino, also highlighted the work being done by the State Government of Pará and the Tourism Secretariat in encouraging new domestic routes and also international routes for the State. “Today we celebrate the achievement of increasing frequencies; all the international flights we had to Belém, we have increased the frequencies, including Fort Lauderdale and Lisbon. And now the launch of this new flight from Gol, which will bring American tourists directly to Belém. It will transform Belém, in addition to being the gateway to the Amazon, also the gateway to Brazil,” said the minister, who also reinforced the trend of growth in tourism in the State, as last year, when the International Airport surpassed the mark of 4 million and 200 thousand passengers, a historic number, and for 2025 the outlook is even more optimistic.

This will be Gol's second international route from the capital of Pará. The airline already operates flights between Belém and Paramaribo, in Suriname.

The flights between Belém and Miami will be operated with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, the most sustainable model in Gol's fleet, with a capacity for 176 passengers in international configuration. In Florida, Gol operates the destinations of Miami and Orlando. Through the company, passengers coming from the United States find quick connections to Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo with Gol, as well as cities in the interior of Pará. In the opposite direction, the partnership between Gol and American Airlines benefits passengers who intend to travel to dozens of other destinations in North America, from this which is one of the largest hubs of the American company - Miami.

“Gol has always believed in partnerships, in solid partners, in partnerships aimed at profitability, business, that are interesting for both sides. So, Gol is very grateful to the State Government for supporting us in this front regarding this new operation; without a doubt, it is a gear that needs to work for the flight to be viable. Not only the government but all the entities, all the secretariats that are here with us supporting, also the operators who now have the responsibility to help us ignite this flight so that we can always look for opportunities for our operations in the future,” says Marcus Almeida, commercial manager of Gol.

For Marco Antônio Migliorini, CEO of Norte da Amazônia Airports (NOA), the concessionaire of Belém International Airport, it is a satisfaction to be part of another chapter in the advancement of air connectivity in the North with the world. “With investments of around R$ 450 million in the requalification works of Belém International Airport, we will be increasingly prepared to meet the increase in flight offerings, transforming the experience of travelers who will participate in one of the largest events on climate and sustainability in the world. The new Belém-Miami connection is a milestone for the people of Pará and will open doors for new connections with other destinations in North America,” he evaluated.
