With support from the State government, through Emater, the program offered marketing of honey-derived products, exhibition of native bees, and discussion circles

The State Agroindustrial School Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira hosted the I Meliponiculture Conference on Wednesday (18) in the municipality of Marituba, in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The program promoted the encouragement of sustainable family farming and was supported by the Government of Pará, through the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company (Emater).
The strengthening of honey production was one of the main points of the program, emphasizing sustainability in the productive environment of its derivatives, as well as promoting meliponiculture, valuing local biodiversity, and economic development.
Joniel Abreu, president of Emater-Pará, highlighted the importance of the event for strengthening family farming in the region, generating income and improvements for producers. “The Conference is the result of yet another partnership established between Emater and the City Hall of Marituba. We mobilized farming families to intensify this work of social and economic development, ensuring that public policies reach those who need them most in the municipality of Marituba,” he emphasized.

The Conference was attended by managers from the City Hall of Marituba, the event organizer, and representatives from family farming associations and students, who had the opportunity to learn about the importance of bees for the maintenance of ecosystems.
In addition to activities in the school hall, there was marketing of honey-derived products, exhibition of native bees, handicrafts, and discussion circles with honey producers in the outdoor area.
