Policing is intensified during the Corpus Christi holiday 2025 in Pará
Operation Corpus Christi 2020 continues until next Monday (23)

The Military Police of Pará (PMPA) has implemented the "Operation Corpus Christi 2025", which began on Wednesday, the 18th, and extends until next Monday, the 23rd. The objective is to ensure a peaceful and safe extended holiday through ostensive and preventive actions throughout the state territory.
According to the plan developed by the General Operations Department (DGO), the operation intensifies in areas with a higher concentration of people, especially in places that receive a large number of visitors due to religious celebrations and the movement of the population from the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB) towards the inland resorts.

The actions are scheduled to take place in various districts and municipalities, including Cotijuba, Mosqueiro, Curuçá, Marapanim, Maracanã, Colares, São Caetano de Odivelas, Salinópolis, Bragança, Abaetetuba, and Cametá, totaling 19 locations. To reinforce this policing, 237 agents, 17 vehicles, 12 motorcycles, and 12 mounted officers are deployed.
"We are prepared to ensure the safety of everyone, both those who will travel and those who will remain in the RMB. Our intention is to ensure that everyone can celebrate Corpus Christi peacefully," says the head of the General Operations Department, Colonel PM Getúlio Cândido.
The operation includes the establishment of Strategic Base Points in areas of high flow of people and vehicles, as well as patrols by the Highway Police Battalion (BPRv) on the main state highways, such as PA-391, PA-124, and PA-483. The preventive and repressing actions aim to curb crimes and also prevent accidents, especially on the roads leading to the resorts.

Corpus Christi in Capanema
One of the main events marking the Corpus Christi holiday, celebrated on June 19, is an important date for Catholics, characterized by processions and the making of colorful carpets made of sawdust, straw, and sand in various locations. Capanema, in northeastern Pará, stands out for its traditional celebration, which for 49 years has enriched the festival with the art of sawdust carpets, recognized as Cultural and Immaterial Heritage of the State of Pará since 2022.
“We started making the carpets last night. For us, it is a moment of faith and renewal, and having the support of the Military Police throughout the event makes us feel calm and grateful,” said Antônia Rodrigues, a resident of the municipality of Capanema.
