Paysandu emerged victorious from another Re x Pa classic

The Olympic Stadium of Pará Journalist Edgar Proença, the Mangueirão, in Belém, once again hosted a true show from the fans of Clube do Remo and Paysandu, this Saturday (21), in the most played classic in the world, the Re x Pa, which reached its 779th match, valid for the 13th round of the Série B of the Brazilian Championship.

Over 45 thousand fans celebrated in a game that ended with Paysandu's victory, by a score of 1 to 0, with the goal scored in the second half by striker Diogo Oliveira. After 19 years, the classic was contested again in Série B.

The head of the State Secretariat for Sports and Leisure (Seel), Cássio Andrade, highlighted the celebration, held in a safe environment for fans. “These two fan bases deserve to always be at the top of the main competitions. This beautiful celebration, which both fan bases provided, is emotional, vibrant, and passionate. The Novo Mangueirão is the stage for great competitions, and everyone had comfort and safety to watch this spectacle that is the Re x Pa with their families and children,” said Cássio Andrade.

Safety - Clube do Remo fan, Euler Nascimento, took his niece to watch a match of his beloved team for the first time and highlighted the safety provided by the state government, a crucial factor for being with a child still in arms at the Mangueirão. “The stadium's security is great. The Government deserves congratulations! I’m happy to bring her. A positive point for the Government,” said the blue fan.

In the Paysandu fan base, bus driver Egídio Viggiano emphasized the structure and safety offered at the Novo Mangueirão. “The Mangueirão is a spectacle! We can come safely, we can park our vehicle. The security is well-structured. The Mangueirão is completely revitalized today. I want to congratulate the Government for providing us with this spectacle,” said the bicolor Egídio.

With the defeat to Paysandu, Remo fell to 8th place in the competition, totaling 20 points. Paysandu, on the other hand, moved up from the bottom and climbed two positions, occupying 18th place in Série B, with 10 points. With the victory, the Papão is trying to escape the relegation zone in the competition.

Classic - Remo and Paysandu feature one of the oldest rivalries in Brazilian football. In the 779th duel between the two largest clubs in Pará, there are 269 victories for Remo and 247 for Paysandu. Another 263 matches ended in a draw.

The statistics make the Re x Pa the most contested classic in world football, surpassing other great rivalries in Brazil and abroad.
