With 'Ver de Ver-O-Peso', Nilza Maria Theater Show honors actor Mário Filé
The honoree, who passed away in February of this year, immortalized the character Urubu in the cultural reference scene of the market in Belém

The third night of the 5th Nilza Maria Theater Show, in Belém, presented the play “Ver de Ver-O-Peso” by the Grupo Experiência on Saturday night (21) at Theatro da Paz. For decades, the production has brought to the stage a day at the Ver-O-Peso Market - a cultural, tourist, and economic reference in the capital of Pará - through situations experienced by vendors, visitors, and merchants, while also highlighting the diversity of the place.
The actor, journalist, and screenwriter Mário Alberto Filé, who portrayed the character Urubu in the play and passed away in February of this year, is the honoree of this edition. According to the director of Theatro da Paz, Edyr Augusto Proença, the tribute is an opportunity to recognize the importance of Mário Filé's journey.
“I want to thank Mário, one of our great actors. Theater is the art of humility, the art of being another, and as one of the urubus at the opening of the play, Mário Filé became renowned, which is why we are honoring Mário in this theater show, so that he is never forgotten,” emphasized Edyr Augusto.
This was the first performance of the play after the actor's passing, who acted for about 40 years as the interpreter of the character Urubu. The cast also reminisced about their decades-long partnership.

Fun - Retiree Marina de Oliveira, 66 years old, watched the play for the first time and said she had a lot of fun. “The play is funny, it addresses our State and the Amazon, and reminds us how valuable everything here is,” she stated.
The Nilza Maria Theater Show - a tribute to one of the great actresses of Pará theater - is an initiative of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult) and Theatro da Paz, aimed at democratizing access to culture and valuing Pará's theatrical production. “Nilza Maria was an active figure in our theater, a great actress, very wise, which is why we named this Show after her, representing what exists in Pará theater,” informed the director of Theatro da Paz.
The program continues this Sunday (22). There was a performance at 11 am, and another session awaits the audience at 6 pm. Admission is free, and tickets can still be picked up two hours before each performance at the box office of Theatro da Paz.
