Athletes from Pará climbed to the podium with the encouragement of the State for sports practice

The Pará volleyball team reached the highest place on the podium in the 4th edition of the Brasília Cup, in the federal capital, with the under-18, male and female teams from Clube do Remo, champions of the special division. With support from the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the female team of Tuna Luso Brasileira also won silver in the under-18 category and bronze in the under-16.

Maria Siqueira, an athlete from Tuna Luso, highlighted the importance of the achievement for Pará

The event took place from June 19 to 22, at the Marista College of Brasília and Corjesu. The Brasília Volleyball Cup, which brought together teams from all states, was organized by the Federal District Volleyball Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports.

For the head of Seel, Cássio Andrade, the achievement "makes us proud. I am very happy that our young athletes shone in another national-level competition. All these athletes had the support of the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure. This shows that Seel's work in supporting and encouraging sports is yielding significant results. I want to congratulate all the athletes, and also the parents who participated in the competition, cheering and rooting for their children."

The coach of the male team of Clube do Remo, Édson Wander, stated that "the support from the Government was fundamental for this unprecedented and undefeated double victory for the male and female under-18 teams of Clube do Remo, and for Pará volleyball. Pará was very well represented by the Blue Lion."

Opportunity - Silver medalist for Tuna Luso, athlete Maria Siqueira, from the under-18 category, said that "we are returning to Belém with the silver medal. Without the support of Seel, Secretary Cassio Andrade, and the state government, we would not have had such a good campaign. This is the second time going to the Brasília Cup, and this support was essential! We finished the qualifying phase in first place overall, undefeated, without losing a single set. We won the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, and reached the final. We are bringing a silver medal to Pará. This experience was wonderful. An incredible experience to travel with this support, which gave us so many opportunities. Finally, we are bringing a medal to Pará, after such an impeccable campaign as ours."

Maria Siqueira's mother, teacher and journalist Erika Siqueira, added that, "as a mother of an athlete, I am really very happy to see the Government of Pará, through the Secretary of Sports and Leisure, Secretary Cassio Andrade, making this investment, this encouragement, this motivation for our base athletes of under-18 and under-16 from Tuna, to evolve, to become great professionals and athletes in the State, and to achieve much more, as we have now, with the silver medal. May more sponsorships, encouragements, and investments come, so that our base becomes great professionals in the future, and defend the flag and the State of our Pará, with a lot of will, a lot of determination to win."
