Codec presents action plan to boost economic development in the municipality of Oriximiná
Online meeting marks the beginning of the actions outlined in the memorandum of understanding between the State and the municipality, focusing on attracting investments and strengthening local productive vocations
The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec) held an online meeting on Wednesday (25) with representatives from the Oriximiná City Hall to present the action plan that will guide the execution of the memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025 with the municipality. The initiative is part of the Local Economic Development Induction Program, coordinated by the Company, and aims to promote public policies and actions aimed at attracting businesses and investments to the region.
Participating in the meeting were the municipal secretaries from the Oriximiná City Hall, João Bosco Almeida (Planning and Administration), Leize da Silva (Finance and Economic Development), and Joélison Godinho (Government Efficiency); the municipality's attorney, Lia Fernandes; the president of the City Council, councilman Renan Guimarães; as well as technicians from Codec.
During the meeting, led by Evandro Diniz, advisor to the Institutional Relations Directorate (Deri) of Codec, the stages outlined in the action plan were presented, including: socioeconomic data collection, diagnosis of the local small industry, holding the Economic Development Seminar, and preparing the Investor's Guide. The schedule for executing the activities is estimated to last up to 150 days, with technical support from Codec at all stages.
“The action plan is a development of the commitment already made with the municipality and includes practical actions aimed at structuring an environment favorable to attracting investments, focusing on local economic vocations,” explained Evandro Diniz.
During the meeting, Secretary João Bosco Almeida praised the proposed plan and suggested that the future Economic Development Seminar, to be held in Oriximiná, include the participation of other municipalities in western Pará, promoting regional integration as a strategy to strengthen the productive sector.
The municipality's attorney, Lia Fernandes, highlighted that the current municipal administration has promoted a historic administration, marked by proactivity and transformation, and positively evaluated the partnership with the State Government through Codec. “The presence of the Company adds value, and the expectation is that the results of this joint work will be very positive for the municipality,” she stated.
The Secretary of Finance and Economic Development, Leize da Silva, also reinforced the importance of the partnership. “Now it is up to us to work hand in hand and make the next steps feasible so that we can achieve development, generate jobs, and improve the municipality's revenue,” she declared.
The president of the City Council, councilman Renan Guimarães, emphasized the support of the Legislative Power for the actions of the initiative. “We are taking a giant step. Oriximiná has been waiting a long time for an industrial hub, and Codec's actions strengthen this expectation. The Council is available to contribute with whatever is necessary,” he commented.
Located in the western region of Pará, Oriximiná is the second largest municipality in territorial extension in the State and an important hub for mineral production, particularly in bauxite extraction. The city also concentrates potential in agriculture, fishing, and tourism, in addition to being strategic for the regional development of the Northern Channel.
The action reinforces the commitment of the Government of Pará to the presence of the State in all integration regions, aiming for development and the construction of public policies that promote employment, income, quality of life, and sustainable opportunities for the people of Pará.
Codec acts as a tool of the State in promoting economic growth, through articulation with municipalities, strengthening the productive base, and attracting investments to all regions of Pará.
