Secult inaugurates Cine Guanabara room this Thursday (26)
Space dedicated to audiovisual will be inaugurated at the Cultural Station of Icoaraci with a ceramics exhibition and free cinema sessions

The district of Icoaraci, in Belém, will gain a cinema room. The facility will be delivered by the State Secretariat of Culture this Thursday (26), at 6:30 PM, at the Cultural Station of Icoaraci, which underwent renovation works to house the "Cine Guanabara" room, a name that refers to an old cinema in the district. The new space will be dedicated to film screenings and cultural exhibitions.
The inauguration will feature the opening of the exhibition "Ceramics: Stories of Lives, Memories, and Traditions," showcasing works by ceramic artisans Master Cardoso, Levy, and Inês Cardoso. The curation is by the Integrated System of Museums and Memorials (SIMM/Secult). The exhibition will be on display for a month, open for visitation at the station itself.
Master Cardoso is known for his work in rescuing the identity of ceramics produced by prehistoric communities in Pará. He was the only artisan to gain access to the world of science and research at the technical reserves of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, in the capital of Pará, which has a rich archaeological collection.
For Levy, "it will be an experience of many flavors." He recalls that the Station has served as a backdrop for various moments in his life. "I remember when I used to go with my father to the station to buy flour, back when the place was a flour market. I feel proud of this space with so much history and contribution to the Icoaraci society; a feeling of memories and pride," he shares.
"This delivery represents our commitment to democratizing access to culture, to the cultural memory of Icoaraci, and to valuing the talents of our land. The Cine Guanabara room is a democratic space for schools, cultural makers, and the general public to enjoy, as well as bringing the community closer to Pará's cultural productions," emphasizes the State Secretary of Culture, Ursula Vidal.

During the opening of the room on the 26th, two short films produced by Auda Piani will be screened, the documentary "Música de Mestre" and "Arte de Mestre," with sessions open to the public. On Friday (27), the space will host animations by Andrei Miralha, "Contos Mirabolantes - O Olho do Mapinguari" and "Umassuma - Lascas de Memória," with four sessions at 10 AM, 10:30 AM, 11 AM, and 11:30 AM.
Filmmaker Auda Piani will showcase in her productions cultural expressions that are typically from Pará: "These films portray many of the masters who dedicated themselves to cultural production in Icoaraci. This type of record plays a fundamental role in immortalizing cultural knowledge. Both shorts were produced in the mid-2003, and it was a project that lasted on average five years. We wanted to present in them the various categories of intangible heritage, ranging from celebrations, knowledge, and forms of expression," she highlighted.
"We hope the audience enjoys the incredible story of how the mapinguari lost its only eye in 'Contos Mirabolantes - O Olho do Mapinguari' and can travel through the poetic memories of 'Umassuma - Lascas de Memórias' and perhaps remember some tree that is or was part of their life. At the end of the screenings, Guaracy Britto Junior - the second director of Umassuma - and I will talk to the audience about the stages of producing an animation and discuss ideas that become films," says Andrei Miralha.
The Cine Guanabara room can be used by prior appointment, via the email [email protected].
In addition to the Cultural Station of Icoaraci, other Secult facilities will also receive cinema rooms. The others, at the Museum of Marajó, Museum of Sacred Art, and the Auditorium Eneida de Moraes, at the Palacete Faciola, are in the finalization phase. The resources come from the National Policy Law Paulo Gustavo (LPG) and total R$ 3,740,373.42, executed by Secult.
