Pará has been standing out in job and income generation in 2025. A study by the Inter-Union Department of Statistics and Socioeconomic Studies (Dieese-PA) reveals that, only between January and April of this year, 169,437 job vacancies were formally filled in Pará. This number represents a 3.4% increase compared to the same period last year. The expectation for the second half of the year is for growth in formal job positions.

The research indicates that the monthly average of admissions in Pará is approximately 42,000. If this pace is maintained, Pará could reach around 500,000 admissions by the end of the year — surpassing the total recorded in 2024, with 445,000 new formal hires.

"We continue to work in search of new mechanisms that can attract more and more new opportunities to all who wish to enter the market. Having autonomy through work is essential for professional and personal growth. And we, from the state government, continue to permanently establish partnerships with companies and establishments to ensure more jobs and income throughout Pará," emphasized Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.

Belém Metropolitan Region
The positive employment scenario is reflected in the eight municipalities that make up the Belém Metropolitan Region (RMB): Belém, Ananindeua, Marituba, Castanhal, Benevides, Santa Bárbara do Pará, Santa Izabel, and Barcarena.

From January to April, the RMB recorded 76,140 admissions, against 69,951 dismissals, resulting in a positive balance of 6,189 job positions. This represents 42.5% of the total balance obtained throughout the state in the same period.

Among the municipalities, Belém stood out with the generation of 4,536 formal vacancies — about 73% of the RMB balance. Marituba follows with 713 positions, and Ananindeua with 448 new formal vacancies.

Services, commerce, and industry lead admissions
In Pará and the Metropolitan Region, the sectors of services, commerce, and industry led job generation between January and April 2025.

At the state level, the services sector was responsible for 65,497 admissions, of which 54.3% occurred in the RMB (35,624). Commerce totaled 44,730 admissions in Pará, with 18,831 occurring only in the municipalities of the RMB. The industry accounted for 21,533 new formal vacancies, with 7,994 concentrated in the metropolitan region.

Although Dieese data indicates that formal opportunities continue to be more concentrated in the services and commerce sectors, the study highlights that, depending on the characteristics of each municipality, there is also significant momentum in the industry, especially in activities related to the processing of primary products, such as açaí, cocoa, and rubber — with a focus on the RMB.

Mining, present in regions such as the southeast and midwest of Pará, also exerts indirect influence on the metropolitan economy, as Belém acts as a strategic logistical and service center for mining operations in the interior. Another relevant point is the location of the RMB as a gateway to the Amazon, which reinforces its decisive role in the flow of various products.

Job market continues to expand
The trend is that residents of Pará will have even more job opportunities in the second half of 2025, especially in the sectors of services, commerce, construction, and industry, the study indicates.

According to Dieese-PA, the state economy will be boosted by investments and financial movement resulting from the Círio de Nazaré, the payments of the 13th salary, and the year-end festivities.

“Another fundamental point for the good moment of employability in Pará is directly linked to the actions and investments related to the holding of COP30 (30th Global Conference on Climate Change),” highlights Everson Costa, technical supervisor of Dieese-PA.
