Students, educators, and managers of the State Full-Time School Eneida de Moraes, located in the Júlia Seffer neighborhood in Ananindeua, celebrated the inauguration of the new robotics lab this Thursday (26). The space, completely renovated and equipped for classes full of innovation and technology, was achieved after the excellent performance of the school in the Direct Treasury Financial Education Olympiad (Olitef) 2024, a national competition that promotes financial education among public school students.

The institution, which serves students from the outskirts of the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB), was the only state school in Pará to receive the award. In total, the students of the State Full-Time School Eneida de Moraes won 18 medals – nine gold and others silver and bronze – putting the school in national prominence.

The coordinator of High School (Coem) of the State Department of Education of Pará (Seduc), Higor Okada, emphasized the excellent performance of the school and the state education network in the competition. “It is a great satisfaction to be here because we, at the Secretariat, as High School, think precisely about these policies. Last year was the first year of Olitef and we already have one of our schools awarded. In total, we had more than 151 medalists in the olympiad and it is very good to see this protagonism from you, which is exactly what we have been asking for. The most important thing is to see that we have committed teachers and the pedagogical part is standing out,” he said.

As recognition for the performance, the school received a complete kit for setting up a robotics lab, with materials valued at R$ 100 thousand. Among the delivered equipment are 3D printers, conventional printers, a computer, a digital camera, and 12 Arduino kits, which now further enhance the school's technological activity curriculum.

Very happy with the result, the school's principal, Adriana Mesquita, did not hide her gratitude for the work, commitment, and dedication of teachers and students. “A lot of gratitude for the work of the entire school community, the management, the teachers. This is a very big achievement. Our school is a school from the periphery, we have been striving to provide the best for our students and the fruit of this work is a national award. It is a feeling of joy, a lot of satisfaction, and this achievement represents a lot for our community,” said the manager.

The Mathematics teacher Layune Muriel, responsible for encouraging the school's participation in Olitef, highlighted the importance of the award for the entire school community. "This is the realization of this idea of showing the student, the community, that a school from the periphery, from a neighborhood that everyone knows its social problems, is capable of achieving great things. I am extremely anxious to start using the robotics room and we are already making lesson plans, looking at suggestions on how to work with the students, so we are already sitting down with the pedagogical team to organize. In the second semester, we will start using the space,” highlighted the educator.

For 8th-grade student and medalist, Isabelly Sofia, contributing to the victory is inspiring and gratifying. “It was and is very good to have had this result and helped the school to have another space and improve the school environment and dynamics. A robotics room was greatly needed and now we have it. I will want to use the space and I believe that students interested in the area will also enjoy using it. I feel very motivated, especially by the teachers who helped us, and even though it is difficult, I want and hope to continue on this path of victories and medals,” she shared.

The robotics room was named “Denise Maia” in honor of the former vice-principal of the school, who passed away this year after a long battle with cancer. Present at the inauguration of the space, the daughter of teacher Denise, Dilma Charcha, recalled her mother's dedication and commitment to education. “I was moved when I received the invitation and thought it was very beautiful, she would have loved it. She loved the school, she was always available to solve everything. I also studied here and finished my High School here. I know that the school was her life, she always said she liked being here. I feel happy and emotional,” she said.

The Financial Education Olympiad - Olitef is an initiative of the National Treasury in partnership with B3 – the Brazilian stock exchange – and has the support of the Ministry of Education (MEC). The competition aims to stimulate knowledge about personal finance and investments among students from the 6th to the 9th grade of Elementary School and the 1st year of High School, preparing young people to deal with the economic challenges of adult life.
