Who said that holidays and learning don't go together? Robotics, technology, and sustainability are now part of the holiday routine for students in the state network. The initiative is from the Pará State Department of Education (Seduc) and is promoting intense days of practical and innovative teaching in the "Creative Circuit Ciseb - Holiday Laboratory," held at the Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education (Ciseb), located at the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State Full-Time School, in the Souza neighborhood, in Belém, this July.

In a true immersion into the future of education, the Holiday Laboratory is an opportunity to discover talents, develop skills, and explore the potential of technology as a tool for social and educational transformation.

Ciseb teacher Thiago Miranda explained that the initiative promotes contact with important tools and is a novelty for many students in the network. "This was the period we thought to bring students who weren't going to travel, so they could develop activities with us. Maker activities, mainly, which are hands-on activities where they produce prototypes based on issues we discuss with them regarding sustainability, the environment, and climate, in addition to relating to robotics, programming, and hands-on work."

"The students will stay here with us for a period of two weeks, and each day we have different activities. For example, on the first day we built balloon-powered cars, on the second day we built a mini-energy generator powered by a crank, and on the third day we built robots using the LEGO robotics kit," shared Professor Thiago.

The laboratory takes place three times a week, in the morning and afternoon shifts, with the participation of 30 students per day - 15 per shift. The students go through thematic rooms that stimulate creativity and logical reasoning: Maker, Prototyping, and Robotics. The activities are guided by specialist teachers and offer a practical and engaging approach to the content, going far beyond what is seen in the classroom.

"The action is very important for the students, and we want them to take the issue of sustainability, concern for the environment, and climate with them to school and life. Here we are bringing the discussion of what is waste and what is residue, that many things we throw away we can reuse. They will leave here with this mindset of not throwing trash on the street, not polluting the seas, oceans, and streams, and that all this material we throw away, we can build prototypes and use sustainably so they can build these prototypes and take them into their lives," reinforced Professor Thiago Miranda.

For student Anthony Nascimento, from the Professora Anésia State Elementary School in the Curió-Utinga neighborhood, participating in the Creative Circuit Ciseb has been a great experience, full of new things. "I think it's cool to have this experience with robotics activities, making a generator. It's my first time here at Ciseb, and I found it good; I'm discovering these new things because before I wasn't very interested in robotics, but now that I've discovered it, I think it's really cool," shared the 7th-grade student.

Ciseb - The Center for Innovation and Sustainability in Basic Education of Pará (Ciseb) is part of the Public Education Policy for the Environment, Sustainability, and Climate of Seduc. The center has modern environments prepared for the continuous training of teachers and for the learning of students from the state and municipal networks, who will have access to innovative practices in their daily school life.

Today, the state network has three units of the Center: the first is located at the Marechal Cordeiro de Farias State Full-Time School in Belém. The second unit is at the new Mestra Idalina Rodrigues Pereira State Bilingual Full-Time School, in the Icoaraci district, delivered in April of this year; and the third is at the Augusto Meira State Full-Time School, in the São Brás neighborhood, also fully rebuilt for the community this year 2025.
