Meeting to discuss sustainable development strategies in the Amazon
Promoted by Semas, in Belém, the event will mark the official launch of the 'Planbio Seal', created by the Government of Pará
Belém will host, on the next July 16 (Wednesday), the event "Bioeconomies of the Amazon: possible paths to scalability towards a fair and sustainable transition", promoted by the State Secretariat for the Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), as part of the collaborative initiative "Amazon Climate Week".
The meeting will take place at the São José Liberto Space, located in Praça Amazonas, in the Jurunas neighborhood, from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, and will bring together representatives from the government, research institutions, the productive sector, civil society, and startups to discuss sustainable development strategies in the region. Participation is free, upon prior registration at https://www.even3.com.br/bioeconomias-da-amazonia--602685/

The program will feature five panels covering central themes such as innovation, data, public policies, sociobioeconomics, and sustainable industrialization. Highlights include presentations on the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park, the Center for Sociobioeconomics, and unpublished studies on related topics.
In addition to Semas, the event will also feature the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (Ipam), World Resources Institute (WRI), and the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Mining, and Energy (Sedeme).
The event will also mark the official launch of the "Planbio Seal", an initiative of the Government of Pará to certify actions aligned with the State's Bioeconomy Plan, linked to the bioeconomy strategy. There will also be a marketplace, bringing together local entrepreneurs to promote the exhibition and commercialization of forest bioproducts, strengthening regional productive chains.
Appreciation - According to the Secretary of Bioeconomy of Semas, Camille Bemerguy, the event is an opportunity to strengthen bioeconomy as a pillar of sustainable development in the State. "This event represents a strategic moment for the consolidation of bioeconomy as a development model that respects the forest and values those who live in it. Our expectation is that the dialogues and connections established will drive sustainable productive chains and strengthen public policies aimed at a fair and inclusive transition in the Amazon," highlighted the secretary.
The meeting aims to present studies and show how the State has been transforming into a center for bioeconomy actions through public policies and structuring projects, as well as encouraging discussions that promote the scalability of bioeconomy in Pará.
