Semas discusses climate governance and implementation of REDD+ in Pará
The event, which will bring together experts, institutions, and representatives of civil society to discuss various topics, including carbon credits and safeguards, is free and open for registration.
On next Thursday (July 17), Belém will host the event "Dialogues on the Jurisdictional REDD+ System in Pará," an initiative of the State Secretariat for Environment, Climate and Sustainability (Semas), in partnership with the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (Ipam), as part of the programming for the Amazon Climate Week. The meeting will gather experts, representatives from institutions, and civil society to discuss topics such as climate governance, carbon credits, and safeguards. The event will start at 8:30 AM at the Utinga State Park "Camillo Vianna" and will feature thematic panels to discuss different aspects and components that integrate the process of building the Jurisdictional REDD+ System in Pará. Highlights include compliance with socio-environmental safeguards and the first experiences with Free, Prior and Informed Consultations (CLPIs) for the implementation of REDD+, which are essential to ensure the leadership of local communities in the process.
