Originally from the municipality of Bragança, in northeastern Pará, housewife Maria do Carmo Brito, 39, was admitted to the Women's Hospital of Pará (HMPA) this Tuesday, the 15th, to undergo surgery for kidney stone removal. The initiative is part of the hospital's humanization project, a reference in specialized care for women in Pará.

“I was very happy because I wasn't expecting this celebration here in the hospital. My sister even commented that she thought it would be the electrocardiogram, when the nurse opened the door, it was a surprise,” said Maria do Carmo, emotionally. She also mentioned that her companion had thought of some way to celebrate the date but didn't know how to do it due to the restrictions of a hospital environment.

According to Marcela Maira, supervisor of the Nutrition service at HMPA, the execution of this careful and detailed work by the hospital's Nutrition and Nursing teams is done with the aim of ensuring not only the joy of the celebration but also the patient's food safety.

”Our intention is to make this day happier, precisely because she is in a hospital, and for this reason, the Nutrition team thinks about the individualized recipe for each patient, taking into account the nutritional adequacy of this cake, the patient's clinical condition, and current comorbidities. This cake, for example, was made with rolled oats, banana, and sweetener so that this patient and her family can enjoy everything the hospital is offering on this very special day,” highlighted the professional.

The action reinforces the commitment of the Women's Hospital of Pará to a more humane assistance that goes beyond medical care and seeks to offer comfort and affection to patients in delicate moments. For Maria do Carmo, the gesture will be remembered as a demonstration of affection that made all the difference in her treatment.
