'Abelardo Santos' provides a new channel for scheduling follow-up appointments with specialists
New tool from Sespa humanizes service, reduces queues, and facilitates the routine of those living far away, especially in other municipalities in Pará

With the aim of providing more comfort and agility to users, the Regional Hospital Dr. Abelardo Santos (HRAS) in Icoaraci, a district of Belém, has started scheduling follow-up appointments with specialist doctors exclusively by phone. The new measure, implemented by the State Health Department of Pará (Sespa), aims to avoid unnecessary trips to the unit, optimize patients' time, and offer more efficient service to the population.
The hospital notes that users should contact the numbers (91) 3108-6060 or 3039-0062. Service is available from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 7 pm, and on Saturdays and holidays (except Sundays), from 7 am to 1 pm. During the call, the team may request the use of WhatsApp for sending documents and proofs, ensuring the completion of the scheduling in a practical and secure manner.
The HRAS service coordinator, Waldilene Tavares, emphasizes that the new feature is intended exclusively for patients who are already being monitored at the unit, that is, those who have undergone some procedure and need to return to the doctor for evaluation. “We know that many patients live far away, and this tool will even contribute to financial savings,” she explained.
For the hospital's general director, Ednise Amaral, the initiative represents an important advance in the commitment to humanize and modernize care. “Preventing patients from facing queues or needing to travel to the hospital makes all the difference, especially for those coming from afar or with reduced mobility. The work is to offer an increasingly welcoming, agile, and efficient service.”
The Regional Hospital Dr. Abelardo Santos (HRAS) is a reference in health care for the indigenous population, women, and children. In the pediatric area, the unit operates in four fronts: emergency, surgery, clinical hospitalization, and ICU, in addition to providing care in Intermediate Care Units (UCIn), ensuring specialized care 24 hours a day.
