Municipal Hospital of Curralinho is delivered restructured to the population of Marajó
With an investment of over R$ 2 million, resulting from an agreement between the State and the City Hall, the unit strengthens public health assistance and marks a new cycle of care for the population

The Government of Pará delivered, this Tuesday (22), to the population of Curralinho, in the Marajó Archipelago, a fully restructured municipal hospital. The work was carried out through an agreement between the State Department of Public Health (Sespa) and the City Hall of the municipality, with an investment of over R$ 2.2 million, of which R$ 2 million came from the state government and R$ 201 thousand as a counterpart from the City Hall. Only in new equipment, R$ 600 thousand was invested.
The revitalization of the unit marks a new cycle for public health in the municipality, which has more than 34,000 inhabitants. The structure now has 41 beds, distributed among medical clinic, pediatrics, obstetrics, surgery, observation, and stabilization, in addition to a dental office and various specialized services.

Now, the population has access to urgent and emergency care, hospitalizations, childbirths, elective surgeries, and imaging exams, such as ultrasound, digital X-ray, endoscopy, and electrocardiogram, in addition to laboratory tests. The Hospital also offers multidisciplinary follow-up, with nutritionists, physiotherapists, social workers, nurses, doctors, biomedical professionals, and other health professionals.

Quality - During the delivery, Governor Helder Barbalho highlighted the importance of the work to strengthen the municipal and regional public health network.
“I am very happy to be here today with the mayor delivering the reconstruction of this Hospital, which has been modernized with equipment and new beds. A quality structure that is part of the strategy to advance, strengthening municipal health. At this moment, we are working on 44 new hospitals that are being built, reconstructed, and recovered. The delivery in Curralinho, which comes less than a week after the delivery in Melgaço, is a demonstration of care for health in Marajó and our commitment to all of Pará. Congratulations to the City Hall and, above all, to the city, which with this Hospital can guarantee the beginning of treatment, the stabilization of the patient, urgent and emergency care, and thus ensure quality in health service and, above all, the right to life,” said Helder Barbalho.
For the acting State Secretary of Public Health, Edney Pereira, the delivery of the Hospital represents more than a physical structure. “It is the realization of a commitment to the life and dignity of people. The population of Curralinho now has access to more effective public health, close to home and with quality. The state government has been investing seriously and sensitively where it is most needed, and this is transforming the reality of municipalities in the interior,” highlighted Edney Pereira.

Difference - The impact of modernization is already felt by those who need care. Fisherwoman Josivalda Batista noted the difference she experienced when accessing services for the first time after the restructuring. “Before, to do an ultrasound, we had to go to Breves, face a line. Today, I thank God, because we already have this service here, and I hope it continues to improve. It is a very good change for me and for many people who suffered the same as I did,” said the user.
Vadailson Ferreira, a nursing technician with 19 years of experience at the Hospital, highlighted the leap in structure and capacity for care. “Today, we have new beds, modern equipment, such as ultrasound and X-ray. It is a huge advancement. This has saved lives. The governor has been present in our municipality, and the population recognizes this effort,” informed the professional.

Real gain - The feeling of "dream come true" is shared by the director of the Hospital, Suely Carvalho Balieiro. “We lived in a very precarious scenario for many years. Now, with this renovation and expansion, our reality has changed. The equipment is of quality, and this has come as a real gain for us, residents. It is gratifying to see this investment not only here but also in other municipalities in Marajó. The government has done a lot for our population,” she emphasized.
In addition to improving assistance to the population, the work generated 50 jobs, being 20 direct and 30 indirect, contributing to boost the local economy.
Since 2019, the Government of Pará has delivered 20 health units, through agreements made by Sespa, in various regions, promoting a broad restructuring of the public network. Currently, about 30 works are underway (made possible by the agreements), in several municipalities, consolidating the commitment to expand access to public health and the qualification of services.
