Science and Technology Caravan Energizes Back to School at Paes de Carvalho School
Traditional state school in Belém involved about 1,400 students in a week of courses and workshops with practices in entrepreneurship and innovation

Paes de Carvalho State School, a traditional educational institution in Belém, opened its doors to the Science, Technology, and Innovation Caravan, promoted by the State Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Higher, Professional, and Technological Education (Sectet). The initiative marked the return of school activities with a special program aimed at promoting knowledge and innovation among students.

During the week, around 1,400 students participated in an immersion in courses and practical workshops in the areas of entrepreneurship, digital influencer, robotics, 3D printing, and 3D modeling, which integrate theory and practice in a playful and interactive way, in addition to a science fair promoted by the Caravan and the school's students.

The school's administrative vice-principal, Kátia Paes, celebrated the impact of the initiative on the school environment. “The return to classes with the arrival of the science and technology fair reached a total of 1,400 students. It is a privilege to receive the action promoted by Sectet and to know that this awakens in students the desire to seek knowledge,” she highlighted.
The students also showed enthusiasm for the experiences lived during the caravan. Artur Henrique Pereira Silva, a high school student, emphasized the digital influencer course as the highlight of the program. “The science caravan was an incredible experience. Besides the chemistry workshops, like the volcano simulation, which was detailed, the digital influencer course marked me a lot. This course will help me pursue my dream of being a great digital influencer, with responsibility and quality content,” he assured.

Among the most remarkable moments of the program was the launch of a rocket in the schoolyard, resulting from the practical workshops that bring students closer to scientific and mathematical concepts.

Mathematics teacher, José Magno Pereira, has been teaching at the institution for over 40 years and commented on the relevance of this experience. “It’s mathematics in everyday life, in practical life. When we see mathematics there, you teach the quadratic function, show that curve, the parabola, and here it becomes easier to learn mathematics in everyday life. Very interesting for our students the experience,” he said.
Another highlight of the program was the robotics competition, which challenged students to program robots built with LEGO pieces. Student Yago Ishigaki and his team won first place in the “Outstanding Student” category, demonstrating excellence in executing tasks in robotics.

It is important to stand out, especially for the career I want to pursue, which is in the area of electronic programming. The robotics course was essential for acquiring knowledge and experience with programming and automation of robots,” noted student Yago Ishigaki.
This was the second technical school to receive the Science, Technology, and Innovation Caravan this semester. In total, the action has already reached two thousand students, and the next school to receive the itinerant project will be the Tancredo Neves Technical School in Ananindeua.
