The Experimental Theater Waldemar Henrique, in Belém, was the stage, on Wednesday (23), for a meeting between cultural producers, artists, researchers, environmentalists, and representatives of social movements, promoted by the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Climate Observatory. The event aimed to discuss the challenges and pathways to integrate culture, the environment, and social engagement actions in the Amazon context.

Transforming the stage into a space for exchanges and local protagonism, the meeting addressed topics such as Amazonian experiences, climate communication, environmental education, and popular participation in climate agendas.

“It is important to carry out this type of action with the support of people who experience the impacts of climate change or who work to reduce them,” highlighted Ana Alencar, director of Science at the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM) and a member of the coordination of the Climate Observatory.

Mariana Trindade, from the organization Rare Brazil, emphasized the importance of social mobilization. “It is a moment to share strategies, such as the COP Central, which aims to democratize the knowledge produced and strengthen the climate agenda in the country,” she stated.

Marcelo do Carmo, coordinator of the Waldemar Henrique Theater, celebrated the choice of the space as the venue for the event. “We are open-armed to welcome you and make this meeting a success. The theater and the Cultural Foundation of Pará feel honored to host initiatives that dialogue with the Amazonian reality,” he declared.

The event reaffirms the relevance of the dialogue between culture and the environment and strengthens Belém's role as a center for discussions on climate, especially on the eve of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), which will be held in the capital of Pará in November 2025.
